Impressive historical events in the process of society's progress usually impetus by great power of the masses. However, the masses could not attain success without an effective leader standing out of the majority. In order to make key decisions, guide correct direction and encourage the masses who appeal to freedom and better life, I agree that the leader must possess high ethical and moral standards.
There is nearly any revolution in politics without the resistance and the defiance often equals to sacrifice, which may means the loss of wealth, reputation and even life. It is vital for the leader when enemies shoot at him or her and is of very importance to test the moral standard of the leader since adulation would save all at that moment. The correct choice in the battle field in such circumstances ask for highest position of the masses in the leader's heart, in which his people and country's liberation and honor are of the most value. The aptly example to illustrate this view is that during the War of independence, Thomas Jefferson, who is the Third President of U.S., had guarded the black's rights regardless the danger from rebels around him. His words "everyone is born equa l" still shine in people's memories.
Moreover, the speech and daily manner of leaders could make influence on the people whether rightly or wrongly. Action is always more powerful than words. Though the policy enacted by government sounds reasonable and perfect when is comes to reality, lacking of executive ability results nothing. To be worse, the leaser might lose credibility and reputation since then, even set up a negative example for people. Any misdeed and lie may perturb the harmony of the society. Take the British Prime Minister Brown for instance. During the election season, his swearword towards a female voter deprived his fame and chance in winning the election. Many citizens in Britain note that it is hard to believe Brown, a leader of their country, present so awful behavior.
The last but not least, it is the masse that entitle the supreme power to the leader, who is the deputy of people. This is to say that the leader make every decision, draft policies, and propel the society in place of the majority of people. Thus, disaster would happen if the leaser take the power for granted as the instrument to gain personal profits. The striking example is the minister of bureau of transportation in Qingdao, Shandong Province, misused of the authority and it turns out that the municipal infrastructure such as bridge and highway are fragile with the minister’s wallet full.
Nevertheless, the leader is human, with the growing personality ad others. The speaker unnecessarily asks for the leader to embrace the highest ethical and moral standards. Everyone is learning from life and growing more intelligent day by day. The definition of the highest standard is not only vague but also hard to reach until the terminal of life.
In conclusion, I agree with the speaker’s assertion in some extent that in order to lead people to get close to their dream, the leader should have high ethnical and moral level. However, the extremely top level is either practical or necessary.

观点都挺好的，而且基本上都有例子。只是青岛的那个例子恐怕不适合给老美看吧，对他们来说比较陌生。
转折的部分能再扩充一下更好。比如稍加说明为什么最高的道德水准就是个模糊地概念。
