51. "Education will be truly effective only when it is specifically designed to meet the individual needs and interests of each student."

Education is always a hot topic because of its vital position in development of one nation. Education is charged with the responsibility of cultivating talents who shoulder the mission of passing on culture and science technology. At it were, quality and effective education delegates the hope of future, so it cannot be underestimated. Thus, I really cannot consent the topic, saying that only when education is specifically designed to meet the every student’s individual needs and interests, its high efficiency will be shown. As the topic says, it sounds more like a consummate dream or a target we need to pursue perpetually but cannot be able to achieve.
At the begin, fulfilling individual needs and interests of each student is a great goal for education, which accords with the requirement of social ultimate intent for developing——resource maximal optimization, social harmony and people with happiness and so on. If education is almighty as God to satisfy every one’s needs and interests with great humanization, bringing up various genies among every side of society to achieve worldwide diversification is not one dream. That means an unprecedented flourishing situation comes out with the greatest knowledge explosion and highest speed development of the society. In that case, it is also the summit for education.
Nevertheless, as at present, this view is just a distantly blueprint. Although that is our long-range objective, yet it is also one fond dream that can be getting close step by step but unable to achieve. As the proverb says, every man has his faults, which reaches an agreement with a view of the dialectical unity between positive and negative in dialectic method. That is to say, fulfilling every student’s needs and interests is too absolute which cannot be accomplished in practice. In current environment of education, students receive teaching model for the large class where they would be taught in the same method without aim at individual character. This model of education is too deep-rooted to reform itself, even if it seems more and more unsuitable to the development of society. However, we cannot assess the current model as an ineffective one. There is large numbers of people, as well as educatee, so large-class teaching is more effective that single model because present model would economize the cost of teachers and teaching time. Moreover, large-class teaching would stimulate students’ competitive spirit emulating with each other, so that it will accelerate progress of students as a collective.
The level of education at present deserves us to pay attention to. Even if the model has long history and largely save the time and teacher resource, it still has too many flaws to overcome. After all, cultivating students to the point based on individual needs and interests is our ideal. We have a long way to short the distance between reality and ideal.
In conclusion, I cannot agree with the statement of the topic, teaching students classified based on individual needs and interests is an ideal situation and efficiency of education is not determined by this point. The era and social environment and so on are all factors limiting the level of education. We cannot consider that the model currently is not effective, though there are some flaws need to be improved. |
