With the fast development of science, recent decades has witnessed a heated discussion about scientific researches. I mostly agree the speaker that government should donate(不该这么用 换一个词吧 give patronage to ) researches despite its controversy, because the all (all the)the discoveries and fruits acquired by researches are neutral themselves, what make differences is how we human beings take advantages of them.
To begin with, scientists from all over the world are doing researches in various fields every day. Admittedly, some researches will possibly arouse controversy, which involves some moral and ethic issues among societies. For instance, opponents of the stem cells research argue that embryonic stem cell technologies are a slippery slope to reproductive cloning and can fundamentally devalue human life. The pro-life movement argues that a human embryo is already a human life that is entitled to protection. For the reasons above, objectors consent that killing a embryo for purpose of research is inhumane and should be forbidden. What's more, since the deliberate destruction of a human embryo is incompatible with Roman Catholic doctrine, according to which, Pontifical Academy for Life has stated that human blastocysts are inherently valuable and should not be voluntarily destroyed as they are "from the moment of the union of the gametes" human subjects with well defined identities. All of these make the research get into a dilemma.你只说了反方的观点,既然是controversy,应该把正方的观点也说一下吧
However, to keep discovering the unknown is not only human beings' instinct but also the way on which people are developing and improving themselves. That is to say, various researches are still necessary to satisfy endless need of human's desire to discover. 这句子写得真好 Granted that, we can easily find that scientific research itself has nothing to blame, what gives rise to controversy is the means we adopt in the process of researches, and how do we use the achievements of all the breakthroughs. Undeniable, the invention and use of nuclear weapons took thousands of lives, most of which are innocent civilians. But on the other hand, nuclear energy has brought great benefit to human beings, by being a substitute for former means of producing electricity.
Furthermore, a mass of problems of many aspects of human beings are still waiting for the solution given by further researches, especially some significant but controversial ones. Medical researchers believe that stem cell therapy has the potential to dramatically change the treatment of human disease. In the future, medical researchers anticipate being able to use technologies derived from stem cell research to treat a wider variety of diseases including cancer, Parkinson's disease, spinal cord injuries, Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, multiple sclerosis, and muscle damage, amongst a number of other impairments and conditions. All of these must rely on the key researches of stem cells, which have triggered a lot of dispute and controversy. 这个例子如果你前面没有提到过的话,无懈可击,但是它既然前面被你用作有争议的例子用了,这里就该慎重 个人意见 仅供参考
It seems that people have bogged into a dilemma, where development of some core technologies and preservation of ethics and moral cannot be obtained together. Nevertheless, balance can still be found between them. Depending on ethical and moral consensus of public, government can regulate the process of researches by legislation. What’s more, government should make sure that all the fruits which come from researches it has donated would be used in a peaceful, beneficial way. Take the example of Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons, which was signed by 59 countries in 1968. It has efficiently regulated and imposed restrictions on the usage and spread of nuclear weapons.
To sum up, for any controversial issue of scientific research, there is a way what government should take, on which both sides, the maintenance of ethical conventions and the urgent desire to solve serious problem through researches, can be satisfied. Governments should not hesitate to donate those potential researches that might bring benefits to country, but at the same time, they also have the responsibility to guide these researches within the limits of public supervising and ethical principles.
你的语言和构思都很好,我几乎挑不出什么毛病,结构安排上稍微调整一下就完美了 |
