TOPIC: ARGUMENT209 - The following recommendation was made by the Human Resources Manager to the board of directors of the Fancy Toy Company.

"In the last three quarters of this year, under the leadership of our president, Pat Salvo, our profits have fallen considerably. Thus, we should ask for her resignation in return for a generous severance package. In Pat's place, we should appoint Rosa Winnings. Rosa is currently president of Starlight Jewelry, a company whose profits have increased dramatically over the past several years. Although we will have to pay Rosa twice the salary that Pat has been receiving, it will be well worth it because we can soon expect our profits to increase considerably."

Merely based on the unsounded assumptions and dubious evidence, the arguer draws a conclusion that the company should replace the current president Pat Salvo with Rosa Winnings. Although the conclusion seems to be convincing and appealing at the first glance, while it is in fact ill-received after close scrutiny of the assumptions and evidences. In my point of view, there are at least three logical flaws.

First and foremost, simply quoted the fact that in the last three quarter of this year, their company's profits have fallen considerably during the occupation of Pat Salvo, the arguer unfairly assumes that it is all due to the poor leadership of Pat Salvo, which lacking any evidence to support. Actually, it is very likely that the profit had decreased before Pat Salvo has came the company, it is equally possible that the faculty did not listen to the Pat Salvo' command, or their company's products are in poor quality, factors such as these may explain the cause of the decline, and without solid and sufficient evidence to explan the cause of decline, it is unwarranted to blame the profits' decline wholly to the Pat Salvo.

In the second place, even if it is Pat Salvo's bad performance that the Fancy Toy Company has to change the president, the conclusion remains to be questionable. The arguer assumes that Rosa Winnings is bound to help the company to raise the profit, only because during her employment Starlight Jewelry's profit has increased dramatically. While there is no guarantee to show that it is the case. It is highly probably that before she was the president of Starlight Jewelry Company, their profit had already in a rising tendency, or maybe she has a efficient faculty, or their products are in high quality, Starlight Jewelry may have a broad fame in the field of jewelry market. In this sense, there is no scientific evidence cited to validate that it is Rosa Winnings has an excellent leadership, what's more even it is Rosa Winnings that help Starlight Jewelry Company raise their profit, while it is not equals to she can also help Toy Company, as they even do not produce same fruitions, and the situations between these two companies may be tremendous, they may in entirely different managing means.

Finally and may be the most importantly, the arguer fails to rules out some alternative methods which can also help to make the profit rise up.
Such as rigid management, improving the quality of their products, funding some attracting advertisements, enhancing the morale of the faculty and so on, which may be more profitable, as if they use Rose, whose salary is twice higher than the former that means high cost? This can not save revenue at all.

IN conclusion, the argument, while it seems logical at first, fails to substantiate strong and credible evidence to support the claim. In order to make the conclusion more logical and acceptable, the conclusion can be improved by reasoning more convincingly and citing some evidence that are more persuasive, and taking every possible consideration into account.
