I do not think that the primary goal of technological advancement is to increase human’s efficiency as the author contends which is a harmful conclusion. In contrary, the more effectively people do, the more leisure time they have to enjoy their live. However those must be based on the behavior of learning more useful knowledge and deep desire of harmony surrounding in one's heart.
To begin with, technological development brings both advancement and dis-advancement. It is especially important for us to master the primary goal of its advancement. If without limitation to increase people's efficiency, the leisure time will become the terrible moment, because not everyone knows how to enjoy their live without gambling, heavy drinking, fighting and so on. So , to this extent, the primary goal of technological advancement should be to increase people's efficiency to amend their self-behavior by positive education. As we all know, there are many models in our history. While ignorance of moral education, technology with selfish means destructive. In other words, we can say the primary goal of technological advancement should serve education.
In addition, the primary goal of technological advancement should be to increase people's efficiency when they have a strong desire of harmony of the world. Master Kingkong once told us: With the development of high-speed-technology, people taking advantage of technology to earn more profits and interests are ruining this world. Which can save this word, the answer is harmony! People without good willing means losing their true value, how to reward the confidence and self-value is receiving good knowledge by education. And that is to say the primary goal of human whether in the realm of technology or other science is to make people more friendly and wisdom by positive education, and moreover, we can also consider that as the goal of increasing people's efficiency, so that they can obtain more time to be educated.
In the final analysis, different definition decides different understanding of this topic. So, as to me, the primary goal of technological advancement should be to increase people's efficiency to earn more time to be educated, and especially do ethical education instead of more leisure time to waste or be cost on passive social aspect such as playing video games with harmful contents including violence and obscenity and so forth.
