Nowadays, the issue of whether advertisingis the most important cause of unhealthy eating habits is widely discussed.Some hold the opinion that advertising triggers people' interests andcuriosities of some food which might be detrimental to their health; others,however, argue that advertising virtually is not the essential and direct causeof people’ eating habits. Personally, I side with the latter. I will reason andprovide concrete evidences to support my viewpoint as follows.

The first plain truth, I am presentinghere, is that not all of advertisements are closely related to the food or beverages.Today, the industry of advertisements has become the most all-inclusiveindustry which ranges from every aspect of our lives, not just in food, butalso in clothing, makeup, electronical product, travel plans, or even myriadservices. Since a wide assortment of advertisements do not account for food,how can we attribute unhealthy eating habits to advertising. Moreover, eventhough some advertisements refer to food, not all of them would cause unhealthyeating habits. Too often we can observe that some diet production calls forright habits. Therefore, it is a little bit haste to conclude that advertisingis a negative factor to eating habits.

Furthermore, advertising is merely an indirectfactor, rather than an absolute cause to influence eating habit. No one coulddeny that the fact that people's behavior is conducted by their mind. In somecases, admittedly advertising does convey persuasive information "tobuy" or "to use" a certain product, or else manufacturer has no reasonto waste a vast amount of money on it. Nevertheless, advertisement can not bethe omnipotent; because there are always critical thinking individuals in anysociety who make purchase decision only according to their personal situation, insteadof the advertisement at all. For such rational consumers, the power ofadvertisement seems so negligible.

Last but not least, although it probablyhappens that advertisement triggers purchase, it is incapable to shape habits.A habit, in a common sense, is built on series elements such as one'sdisposition, inclination, as well as many other habits. Therefore, it is reallyexaggerated to say that advertisement initiate one’s habit.

In conclusion, despite advertising is greatlyinfluence our lives, itself is just a promote voice when we wander beforecertain product. For that reason, we should be responsible for our own behaviorrather than try to find advertisement as an excuse for wrong decision.

Asfar as I am concerned, I side with the latter. Of countless reasons or factsthat can strengthen my viewpoints, I will present the most consequential andconspicuous ones here.

To begin with, I am presenting here, is thatpart-time job urge us to learn to maximize the time. For students, maximizingthe time is most significant, and no account can we deny that it is closelyrelated to our academic achievements. However,doing part-time job, can force such students concentrating their time on theworthy events. Comparatively, in the remote areas, there are even thousand of people probably even do not know what telephone is.

Furthermore, behind my preference lies an equally important fact that television shape our understanding of the world. Too often we could observe in a ordinary news program, the most important issue is very long and in the beginnng of the program. In opposite, the not important story is often very short or hidden in the last part. Therefore, by prearranging the important issue, television makes decision for us. And we have reasons to believe, in a long time, we will unconsciously or subconsciously adjust our perception according to what the television tells us. In conclusion, telephone, in essence, is a message channel despite its usage should not be rejected or neglected. However, the television does act as a great source of inoformation to influence on our perception of the world, of the truth, of the structure of the society. Forthermore, television supple us not only the information but also the experience, the amusements, and relaxation.
