The reading passage concentrates on the issue of what the settlements of Chaco canyon in New Mexico was used for, and gave three possible explanations. However, the professor asserted the theories in the reading were misleading, which directly contradicted statement in the reading. Besides, he used three specific points to confirm his report.

First, the reading advocated the Chaco structure were basically used as houses, for it was as big as the famous “apartment buildings” at Taos, the home of many people. Yet the professor claimed this point was not convincing. He argued that even though the outlook of the building was natively American style, inside the building was not the same situation. And there were few fireplaces to cook, which could not support hundreds people to live in. obviously, the professor disproved the purely residential theory in the reading.

Moreover, despite the statement in the reading that people stored maize in the Chaco structures, the professor contended that there should have some maize containers in the building if it was used as a storeroom. He pointed out that the rooms were empty and had no remained maize containers. In other words, the building could not be storeroom.

Finally, the professor asserted that whereas the reading indicated that the building was similar to Pueblo Alto, which was identified as ceremonial center. The professor verified that beside the broken pipe, sand and stones were the materials to build the Pueblo Alto. But it was not find any sand or stones in the Chaos. As a result, the evident could prove that the building was not for ceremony purpose.

The reading passage focuses on the issue of communal online encyclopedias, which provide an opportunity for everyone on the internet to publish his/her articles and to change the existing one.  Compare to traditional printed encyclopedias, the reading states that the communal online encyclopedias are not convincing and even not trustworthy. Yet the professor argues that the points made in the reading are not reliable and she also uses three specific points to support her idea.

First, while the reading suggests that without the academic credentials, which the traditional encyclopedias contain, communal online encyclopedias seem to be inaccurate. The professor asserts that the traditional encyclopedias have mistakes sometimes and are not comprehensive all the time, which means no encyclopedia could be prefect. The professor’s argument disproves the first point made in the reading.

Moreover, in sharp contract to the statement in the reading that hackers or other unscrupulous users can delete and change the information in the online encyclopedia, making the sources incorrect, the professor indicates that the online encyclopedia has realize those situation and had already settle the issue to prevent information being change.

Finally, the professor asserts that whereas the reading claims that the communal encyclopedias cover too much information to make any depth in the topics. The professor proves that this claim is specious by pointing out that even though there is not enough space in the communal encyclopedia, it still provides lots of different views on a specific topic.

Both the reading and the professor force on the issue of whether the memoir of Chevalier was true. While the reading insists that lots of the events in the memoir were distorted, making it inaccurate, the professor argues that the memoir was convincing and trustworthy and he gives several points to support his idea.

In sharp contrast to the statement made in the reading that Chevalier was poor, because he borrowed large sum of money from his friends, the professor claims that merchants in Switzerland had to wait several days for their money coming back after they accomplished their business. In this case, it’s no doubt that Chevalier borrowed money from his friends.

The professor indicates that Chevalier wrote down the conversation, which he had with Voltaire, that night, rather than recollecting the information of the conversation. And a witness could confirm that Chevalier actually wrote down the conversation that night, so there were no doubt on the accuracy of the memoir. However, the reading states that since the conversation took place long before the memoir wrote, the phrases could not be correct.

Finally, the professor asserts the point that Chevalier was not able to escape the jar by digging a hole in the ceiling, instead somebody offered him a bribe. According to the data of the prison, the ceiling of Chevalier’s room was repaired. Besides, some prisoners were more powerful than Chevalier have not been release. Both of the evident proves that Chevalier got out of prison though the hole.

The reading passage concentrates on the topic of the declination of reading literature books, which is harmful to the public. However, the professor asserts the statement makes in the reading is not convincing and gives several points to support his idea.

The reading advocates that literature is the most stimulating among other books. Since people decrease reading literature, the public miss lots of benefits. Yet the professor contends that there various inspiriting subjects, for instant, science, polity, history, etc. All of these subjects can stimulate the creative of the public.

Moreover, in sharp contrast to the statement in the reading that people spend lots of time on the superficial, poor written books and replace literature with music video and movies, the professor indicates that there are various forms of literatures. People learn literature through movies and music videos, which are more accessible.

Finally, the asserts whereas the reading believes that due to the declination of people’s reading literature, less and less publishers invest in literature and fewer authors writes literature. The professor points out that because the literature is hard to understand, even the people used to read literature give up reading it now, either to say the majority.

Both the reading and the professor concentrate on the topic whether the portrait of Austen in her teenage year sold by her family was true. The reading indicates the image in the portrait is Austen. However, the professor holds the opposite idea and gives several points to support his opinion.

The reading claims that Austen family indicated the girl in the portrait was Austen. Yet the professor asserts that the portrait was publicized 70 years after Austen’s death. In this case, Austen’s family may not actually see Austen, which could not prove that the accuracy of the portrait.

Moreover, the professor contends the statement in the reading that portrait resembles Cassandra’s sketch and printed the feature of Austen. He argues that Austen had lots of cousins, and their appearance is similar to that of Austen. The sketch of Cassandra portraits a relative resembled Austen.

While the reading insists that the style of the portrait is that of Ozias Humphrey, the professor rejects that though it is Humphrey’s style, it’s find that Willam, a artist, adored his name in the blank of the portrait. However, Willam did not sell portrait until Austen was 27 years old, but the image in the portrait was a teenage, which indicates that the subject in the portrait is not Austen.

5,11   Do you agree or disagree that with thefollowing statement: It's more important for the governmentto spend money to build art museums and music performance center than to buildrecreational facilities(such as swimming pool, playground)  10 01 22NA

With the development of our society, more and more citizens pay attention on the construction of their mental lives. Some believes that government should budget on building art museums and music centers, improving the spirit level of the whole society. However, some propose that the construction of recreational facilities benefits the majority. Still, I consider there is more truth in the second proposal.

First and foremost, people have interest in art and music are the minority, whereas, the majority prefer to do some sports in their separate time. Frankly specking, to appreciate the beauty of the artworks requires the viewers to be high-educated, acknowledge the history of art and process some basic knowledge of art. Only the people have strong interest in art would spend time on taking art appreciation class. In contrast, most of the citizens consider art is abstract and difficult to understand. Neither to say, they would go an art class and fix their lack knowledge in art.

In this case, people tend to do some sport during the weekend, which could strengthen their health. According to the satieties, citizens’ physical health declines rapidly in the recent year, due to the high pressure both in work and daily life. Doctor suggests that everyone should do some exercise at least twice a week. If it’s possible, one should participates a group sport activity, say, playing ping-pong with friends, playing basketball with other or simply running with family, all of which help us relax and release the stress.

Last but not lease, building a art museum costs more money than contrasting a swimming. It’s unattractive to people, even the big art fans, if the number of paintings or sculptures in museum is limited. In order to catch people’s attention, the museum needs to exhibit lots of artwork, which charge large sum of money. However, the swimming pool never lack visitors, for everybody need to do exercise.

To sum up, government should spend more money on recreational facilities, which could improve the health of the whole society.
