4天前刚考完期末，处理完私人事务用2天，看孙远的书2天。今天开始实战啦！8月18号的机考！从今天起每天1篇ARGU, 1－2篇 ISSUE。
随手一翻，ARGUMENT 45号。 耗时35分钟。

In this argument, the arguer concludes that the decline in arctic deer populations is the result of deer being unable to follow their age-old migration patterns across the frozen sea. To justify this claim, the arguer provides the evidence that the recent global warming trends have caused the sea ice to melt. In addition, he cites the reports from local hunters that the deer population is declining, and he reasons that since these reports coincide with recent global warming trends, the decline of deer population is due to global warming. A careful examination of this argument would reveal how groundless the conclusion is.

In the first place, the arguer commits a fallacy of confusing causal relation with correlation. No evidence has been provided to reveal that arctic deer are unable to cross the frozen sea due to global warming trends. Even though the average temperature of the globe is increasing, the temperature in the arctic area might still remain the same. Unless the arguer can provide evidence that the temperature in the arctic area is also increasing, and that such an increasing has caused the ice to melt, therefore making the arctic deer unable to migration, we cannot be convinced that global warming has caused the declining of arctic deer population.

In the second place, the arguer neglects the positive aspects of global warming to the arctic deer population. The increase in temperature in the arctic area might help more plants on which the arctic deer feed to thrive. Perhaps since the supply of food might be more adequate when the temperature is warm, the deer population might even increase due to the supple food.

In the third place, the arguer ignores other factors that may cause the deer population to decline. For example, the sever pollution of the sea, the activity of hunting lacking governmental control, or the migration of arctic deer to other areas. Therefore, even if arctic deer cannot migration due to melting of the ice, the arguer has to convince us that this is the only factor which causes the population of arctic deer to decline.

In summary, the arguer's conclusion is ill conceived and poorly supported. To lend credibility to this advice, the arguer should provide evidence that the temperature in arctic area has increased and such increase has caused ice to melt, making arctic deer difficult to migrate. The arguer should also convince us that melting ice is the only factor that controls the population of the arctic deer.
