As far as I am concerned, both major cities and rural areas should be financially supported equally by the government.

For one thing, the highly developed information society and the globalization have made the major cities nearly the same, distinguished from each other. For example, if a New York citizen goes to Paris on vacation, when he or she walks out the airport and travels on the main street, he or she will even feel like home besides the different language. The fast pace of the citizens, the skyscrapers, the prosperous streets, even the expression on the walkers-by are identical form the New York. Nowadays, the transmission of information has been so easy that if a fashion show is held in Paris, the new dressing style can be seen on the New York streets only a few days after. Due to the globalization and diverse means of exchanging information in cities, the major cities all over the world are becoming distinguished form each other. Characteristics are extinguishing, their only character is globalized. Clearly, it is not in the cities where the nations culture and traditions are preserved and generated.

For another thing, it is in the rural areas where the nations culture and traditions are well preserved and generated, so they deserved the government’s financial aids. For instance, China is an ancient country which has a long history of five thousand years and a marvelous cultural treasures. If you go to Beijing, the capital of China, to learn the culture of the old country, you will surely be disappointed because Beijing has becoming a globlized city and you will find it identical form Washington or Tokyo. The right place you should go is the rural areas like Zhou Zhuang, where the nations’ culture and traditions are well preserved. A comprehensive understanding of the nations culture will be perceived during the walking down of the old and dark lanes, the conversation with the residents of the town who live there for his or her whole lives, the touching of the ancient walls and buildings which may stand there for centuries, and the unfailing stories of the milkmaids and the farmers. Unfortunately, such rural areas which are representatives of the nations’ culture and traditions are declining because they have no enough money to preserve their old buildings, streets, etc. Thus the government should ensure them receive the financial supports to thrive.

In conclusion, it is the rural areas not the major cities where the nations’ culture and traditions are preserved and generated. So the government must ensure the rural areas and major cities both got enough financial aids equally for thrive.
