The study of history has value only to the extent that it is relevant to our daily lives.
Do you agree that the study of history merely has value to the extent that it links to our daily lives? I agree part of the statement that history indeed has value in the areas which links to our daily lives. However, in my opinion, history's value can be presented not only in the areas linking to our daily lives, but it also offer us a various world in other place.
Consider that in political level, history tells us how to understand the individual identify with the country. There are a mass of examples to justify this conclusion. As one of the most important topic in our daily lives, polity plays as an unseen actor around our minds although we may have not realized it, especial the youth. By the study of history, students in school can achieve lots of famous people's stories which improved the society by political events in the past years. Though study history, they can produce more notions and ideas in ordinary lives, such as why and what we can attain from obeying the laws which was decided by the past people and what had the former people done to enlarge our country, from that, the youth can control the necessary actions to enrich our country by fitting behaviors. It is clear that history is a useful tool to improve the cohesion of the society.
Another area, science, reflects the development of knowledge in different subjects by studying history. In fact, many discoveries depend on the former people's research. The contents of the textbooks which put on our desks everyday justify this point. It is clear printed on that the former people's experience by exploring science provides abundant information to the subsequent people. Without the study in history, insufficient resources, like scant dada which must rely on historical events, cannot establish sane system in statistics. Without former scientist's endeavors, we cannot know that substance which contacts with us everyday is build up by little molecule. The same reason, without the other people's more deep research, we will always consider that molecule is the least unit, rather than deem that molecule can be parted by atom and so on. In contrast, without the understanding about molecule, the concept of atom will be an untruth. In short, the study in history rebuilds our store of knowledge and hence improves the development of our society.
Admittedly, the study in history offers a significant value when it is relevant to our daily lives. However, other possible areas which are not relevant to our daily lives also can represent the value of the study. When you are exclaiming for the first human being stands on the moon, can you discern the unseen research behind the occasion? In fact, without careful study about former experiments, the success of this event will only be chatted as a prate by ordinary people after having dinner. Thus, it is actual that the study in history release its value in other places apparently.
To sum up, the study in history which is relevant to our ordinary lives not only plays an eventful effects in political level, scientific level, but also it creates its value in other areas. Therefore, I agree part of the author’s opinion.
