There is no such thing as purely objective observation. All observation is subjective; it is always guided by the observer's expectations or desires.

Is observation subjective or objective? The speaker holds the opinion that all observation is subjective because it is always guided by the observer's expectation or desires. Unarguably, different people have different ideas due to distinct angle. To me, after carefully weighing the statement, which seems to be somewhat appealing at the first glance, in my mind, I would like to say that although most of observation is influenced by the observer's expectations or desires, people still can get things purely objective and finding the objective is important for researchers who study in the department of history and law.
First, I admit that observation is a subjective thing done by people, because it is always guided by the observer's expectations or desires. Special study has been done about the observation. When one normal traffic accident happened in the main street of one big city, the reporters of the study group talked with different people in the main street claimed to see the accident. However, the reason comes to be different about the details of the accident. The observation differs because not only the distance from the accident but also the observer's expectations or desires. Otherwise, the description of the same accident should be also one copy. We could not deny that observation is always guided by the observer.
However, I could not agree with the speaker that there is no such thing as objective observation. Take the accident example again, although there are different copies about the description of the accident, there is one copy that most near the fact. If a neat observer at the shortest distance happens to see the accident and the observer will descript the accident objectively. Moreover, if some people use the video to record the accident, the observation by video is the purely objective observation. Scientists are people who also can do objective observation. They should get their outcome according to the purely objective observation. Without the objective observation, the theory raised could not convince people at all; without ruling out the subjective assumptions, the science could not get progress.
Even more, although observation may be guided by the observer's expectations or desires, observation can control the influence of subjection and seek for the truth. The truth is the important thing for researchers who study in subjects such as history and law. One goal of research in history is to know the truth of the past time. Many famous historian have spent a lot of time to seek for the truth. The same thing also happens in the law area. People are considered innocence in modern law. If you want to commit a evil person guilty, you should provide certification and objective observation is some king of those certification. People can make great effort to make objective observation.
To sum up, from what has been discussed carefully, we can see that even though observation is always guided by the observer's expectations or desires, the objective observation is still possible and also necessary.
