170"The surest indicator of a great nation is not the achievements of its rulers, artists, or scientists, but the general welfare of all its people."

The speaker asserts that the general welfare of all the people rather than the achievement of the elites such as rulers, artists, or scientists, is the surest indicator of a great nation. In my point of view, both of the two factors are the evidence indicating the development of a society and they work hand in hand to propel the nation.

On one hand, the succeed of individuals is a sign of a developed nation and can help promote the country at last. A good example of this point is that the outstanding leadership of Washington is a significant symbol of the great of American. He provided the freedom and democracy to the citizens of America. Another case in point is that the Shakespeare's famous dramas and novels give people a delicious diet of art. Additionally, it is because of Edison's invention of light can we live a more convenient life today; without his great individual achievement, we may still grope in the dark night today. All of these cases illustrate that the achievement of individuals in the nation may also coming along with the development in the society and improving the living conditions in everyone's life.

On the other hand, the well-being of all the people can also indicate the greatness of the nation and provide steady phenomena of the society which is necessary for further developing. Since each nation is founded on all of its people, the aim of improving the living conditions should be the most important aim of that government. Without good welfare such as high quantity of education, sufficient food supply, good medical care and so on, we cannot perceive the nation is successful at all. If the people in one nation are dissatisfied with their living conditions, it is less likely for them to hold loyalty to the government and result in unsolidified and disordered society. How can we perceive such a nation is great?

The success of individual and welfare of all the people all both needed in the process of development of human history. We can not emphasize any one of them for the society's developing will be greatly influenced without each of them. Without the achievement of individual, our society will lose many opportunities to improving the living conditions of all the people; without the welfare of all the people, gaining success for individuals is also impossible. In one word, only containing both of the two aspects can we appreciate a nation as a great nation.

Judging from what I discussed above, we can draw the conclusion that the achievement of individuals and the well-being of all the peopel of a society are not contract with each other but funciton together to indicationg the greatess of a nation.

On one hand, the succeed(success) of individuals is a sign of a developed nation and can help promote the country at last. A good example of this point is that (去掉this point is that) the outstanding leadership of Washington is a significant symbol of the great of American(America or United States). All of these cases illustrate that the achievement of individuals in the nation may also coming (come) along with the development in the society and improving (improve) the living conditions in everyone's life.

On the other hand, the well-being of all the people can also indicate the greatness of the nation and provide steady phenomena of the society which is necessary for further developing (development). Since each nation is founded on all of its people, the aim of improving the living conditions should be the most important aim of that government. Without good welfare such as high quantity (quality) of education, sufficient food supply, good medical care and so on, we cannot perceive the nation is successful at all. If the people in one nation are dissatisfied with their living conditions, it is less likely for them to hold loyalty to the government and result in unsolidified and disordered society. How can we perceive such a nation is great?
前两段的意思非常清楚。

The success of individual and welfare of all the people all (去掉,改为are,被动语态??) both needed in the process of development of human history.
我不知道你这一段能不能这样写,感觉和前两段重复了,或者说是前两段的总结。不知道其他的队友怎么说。 比如A,B,C 递进; A , 非A,B 转折; A, B, A+B呢? 期待讨论。
你的Issue似乎比Argument写的好:)语言流畅些,向你学习。

Judging from what I discussed above, we can draw the conclusion that the achievement of individuals and the well-being of all the people of a society are not contract(contradictory) with each other but funciton together to indicationg the greatess of a nation.

你可能还需要细心一些,有些动词,名词,形容词用的不大对
我写作的时候,也会犯非常多这样的错误,有一次限时完检查,光拼写竟然错了22个 :)

继续加油!
