Arts work are timeless expression of the human experience, they capture the history of events, ideas, and people that have shaped our pluralistic society. When we stand at front of such great works, a question comes into our mind: Who give us these excellent enjoyments with lasting value, the artist or the critic? In my point of view, the artist may be the main ingredient for a banquet, and the critic are also the essential seasoning for the recipe of the good artworks.

In the first place, the critic helps us to understand artworks better. "Art is the mold of feeling as language is the mold of thought", as a wise man once said. So the arts always possess some deep or even abstruse meaning in them since the artist have acute feeling, which gives us an alternative way to observe the world we live in. Without professional knowledge, wide-rounded research, and some experience, the masses are always hard to perceive the meaningful information in artwork. On the contrary, the critics possess such qualities to identify and evaluate the artwork. Take myself as a case in point, you may call me a movie-a-holic, and I love to analyze the background, the cast, the plot, and the meaningful lines of the actors besides the movie. When I doing this, I always turn to the critics for their help and they never let me down for their professional aesthetic view of the work. Have you ever seen the movie "the graduate"? If you have, you could never miss the song named "Scarborough fair", but do you know the meaning behind the name? As I am not a English speaker, the acute sense to English may be not as good as the native speaker, so I haven't note this point before my exposure to the critics' view. They told me that "Scarborough fair" contains two distinct words, scar and fair, which implied the certain historic background for the America, the Vietnam War, the topic of war and peace, and the song described the mood of people at that time. Without this valuation from critics, I will never understand the true spirit of the movie.

In addition, the critic is the catalyzer for the reaction of artworks with lasting significance. As the mark twain once said：" We like a man to come right out and say what he thinks, if we agree with him.",  the artist are happy to hear the voice of advocate.  But the opposite opinion from critics are essential to the progress, so we need different views to help us to further achievement. For instance, the great Chinese composer Nie er said, and I paragraph, thanks to the critics, they keep me always worrying about whether any improvements can be made with the obtained achievement.

However, no one can deny the crucial role of the artists in the creation of artistic works. Sometimes, the great artists have the aesthetics transcendent the contemporary, so their artworks always received negative evaluation from critics. Take the case of the famous song "Moscow Night" in point, the critics at that time said the lyrics of the song are too simple and it is even a signal of recession of the composer, who is a very famous Russian musician. But the fact is in the absolute opposition against the critics, the song explode in popularity so widely and so lasting until today. Thus, the artists should persist in their own opinions sometimes.

Therefore, the artist and the critics are nor mutually exclusive in create something of lasting value, but on the contrary, they can reinforce one another. For the critics can not only help to make more persons possible learning and comprehend the true meaning of the arts but also can contributes these artistes to become more skillful and confident in the pursuit of the lasting works. Nonetheless, the artist should filter the critics and persist opinions of themselves sometimes.

思路很清楚，例子比较充分也比较有新意。不足之处就是开头不失偏颇地提出艺术与评论是相辅相成的两个方面，而主体与结尾好象都更侧重于评论的积极意义，建议不妨修改一下开头。

而且我也觉得第２段太罗嗦，整体也比较偏重critics，其他的都很好．
