Intellect is the goal of many philosophers, social and natural scientists, and common people. But looking into our everyday life and our educational system, I am afraid that the emphasis has been placed on intellect is far from enough.

In social life, people often neglect the importance of intellect. Since the society does not put much emphasis on reasoning and cognitive skills. It is a common belief that a whole consideration of the effects should be took before people make a decision, or conduct a behavior. But, few people carry out this rule. Everyday, when people are walking on the streets, they may find angry drivers blaming on each other for a traffic accident; when people are waiting at a check-out, they may hear a wife complaining about her husband for some mirror flaw; when people open the television or reads a newspaper, they may see a host of reports about racial conflicts, wars, and crimes. All of those mentioned above, indicate that people are living their lives without much reasoning and contemplation. If divers are rational, they should try to minimize the effect of the accident first rather than complaining; if the wives are lucid, they should comprehensively evaluate their husbands; and if the leaders, the governments can be more sensible, thousands of wars and kills would be prevented, and the problems can be solved in a moderate way. Observing from people's daily life, we can see that people are almost living in a mass of irrational and fanatic, for they seldom use their ability of reasoning and cognition.

And, in the field of education, both the students and the educators do not pay much attention to intellect, that is, they omit the significance of reasoning and cognitive skills. On one hand, it is more and more difficult to find a student who studies only for study's sake. Most students are just pursuing the grades. They do not care whether they truly gain knowledge or if they can comprehend what the professors are saying. What they want is a good mark, which can promise them a high-paying job and an elegant life. These kind of situation is partly owing to the society, which defines individual succeed as a rich and comfortable life. One the other hand, in some areas, the educators still do not find a effective way to cultivate the reasoning and cognitive skills of students. As a medical student, like many of my peers, I suffer from thousands of hundreds of concepts, and theories which should all be memorized as the instruction of the professors. Even worse, professors hardly tell us how could we correctly cognize the patients’ disease and use the theories we remembered to help them. Given the analysis above, we can see that both the students and the educators should change their minds and focus on reasoning and cognitive skills rather than grades or merely memorizing books.

All in all, it is clear that our society did not place enough emphasis on intellect. As a result, people's lives and education is not as good as they should be. What people should to is to cultivate reasoning and cognitive skills and apply them in their lives.

这篇文章比较难写的说，主要是intellect不好理解，你的理解比较独特，尤其是B2，我不敢说不对，不过觉得还是有点奇怪，建议你看看版上的讨论，这道题的讨论比较激烈的。还有一个比较大的问题，（好像是你的一贯问题哦），就是思维跳跃性太大，一般在TS后就跳到一个不太相干的概念上，起码要过渡解释一下吧，你觉得呢？不过限时的已经不错了。又是这么bt的题，加油罗，没几天了。

我是把intellect 当成cognitive skill 的同义词来写的

cognition：The mental process or faculty of knowing, including aspects such as awareness, perception, reasoning, and judgment.

b1 人们在日常生活中 经常不reasoning
b2 教育体制不强调cognitive skill  学生追求分数不comprehend   教师没有教学生cognitive skill强调背诵~
