What is the function of technology? Is it the savior of our human beings who helps us create a brand new life? Or does it a demon who as the author said, threatens or damages the quality of life? As far as I am concerned, technology itself is neither good / beneficial/ advantageous nor bad/ evil/ wicked / dreadful ; the key is how we use/ employ/ utilize/ handle/ manipulate it.

It should be admitted that some kinds of technology leads us to the nightmare. The invention of car, provides us with efficient and convinent (convenient) way to travel, liberates/ emancipates/ unfetter us from the torment/ suffering/ anguish/ affliction/ distress of walking long distance or riding (arduously/ painfully/ laboriously) by bike. Yet, we are also/ equally/ similarly afflicted by the tremendous air pollution that the car is the one of the major prime criminals. And we will not forget the a-bomb thrown to Japan, that catastrophy (catastrophe) has destroyed/ demolish/ tear down the whole city and left people the perpetual misery and the thought of how we should utilize such powerful instrument. What about the biochemical technology? During the anti-Japanese war, the Japanese cruelly slew the Chinese people by doing the biochemical experiments on them. And the Amercian (American) people will forever remeber (remember) this awful/ abominable/ detestable thing which renders them panic and horror.

Nevertheless, we curse the technology while at the same time we benefit significantly from it. Can we imagine a world without the electric lights? Were it not for this technology, we would for all time/ eternally/ evermore live in a stylx (stygian 阴森森的) abyss and never find our way out. The invention of it, seeming nothing special/ conventional/ ordinary compared with today's highly developed technology, still has its far-reaching/ extensive/ sweeping/ influential/ broad meang. (meaning)  Were it not for the internet technique, our world would still be devided (divided/ separate/ split) into several fragments. It is such instant communication that enables us to get in touch with/ get hold of/ contact those who are far from us. It is also such digital technology that endow us with the assessment of various information. Moreover, the medical technology exerts a profound impact on our life. Our lives are protected by it, lengthen by it and improved by it. We no more have to suffer from some of the diseases that once were fatal to us, even some other diseases may still deprive us of our lives, by the help of the technology, can we suffer less pain from our illnesses.

To sum up, the functions of technology, to be the assistance of us or the enemy antagonizing us, entirely depend on us. If we use it in a proper way, it can improve the quality of our lives, while on the other hand, if we use it as the weapon to destroy the world, it will obviously turn to a demon who threatens and damages our life.
