Facts are stubborn things. They cannot be altered by our wishes, our inclinations, or the dictates of our passions.

The assertion in question consists of two claims; that is 1) it is universally acknowledged that the facts and truth are always objectively exist; 2) the facts or truth are detached from the subject wishes, inclinations, or emotions. As far as I am concerned, I fully agree with this point of view.

If we have a close examination of our daily life, we can easily find out numerous samples to show the objectivity of the facts or truth. The sun always rises everyday from east and set down into the west. The moon waxs and wanes in a periodical regulatory manner. Human being should follow the laws of gravitation and motion when walking, jumping and moving. As it stands, there are so many universal physical, chemical, economic, psychological, physiological rules controlling our life and world regardless of our like or dislike to them.

Since we human being cannot willingly change the fundamental rules, we should show due respect respects to them and try to handle these rules in a scientific and rational way so as to serve us positively. Otherwise, we might suffer from great loss or even lead to unimaginable disaster to our community or society. For supporting example, during Mao's epic of China in 1960s, the central government fancied a rapid promotion and prosperity of industry and agriculture so as to compete with the western capital countries. To achieve that purpose, Mao and his colleagues wrongly launched a movement called the Great Leap and People Commune; that is; hastily steel making and shares of farming against the basic economic rules. However, the practice of his movement proved to be a blunder resulting in nationwide famine and industrial downfall.

In addition, nor can we alter the facts by virtue of our inclination or passion when it comes to history. The last century witnesses the tragedy of two World Wars. Even now, the legacy of past still haunts millions of families throughout the world with misery and nightmare. Whatever we try to comfort and condole the victims of the wars, we still cannot change the happening of holocaust to millions of Jews, the massacre in Nanjing, A-bombing in Hiroshima and Nagasaki. All we can do now is to record and memorize the past, provide our next generations with truth so as to avoid return of the Nazism and Militarism.

In sum, I hold that the facts are indeed stubborn things. Therefore, no one can overlook, ignore or distort the fact even to minimal degrees. Though we may have some emotional and respective understanding and opinion to the existed fact, the individual bias or perspective works weak to influence objectivity and existence of the past events and the present nature.
