Society does not place enough emphasis on the intellect—that is, on reasoning and other cognitive skills.
The speaker in the title statement holds that society has not placed enough emphasis on the intellect. In my observance, however, too much has been paid on the intellect while other aspects, such as emotion, will, etc., has been unfairly neglected.

No doubt, intellect---the ability of reasoning, understanding, critical thinking, is of vital importance in modern society. In such an era of fast-spreading information and keen competition, no one can succeed without proficient capacity of reasoning. Tons of information are confronting people every day, from which one must find the most valuable and make fast decision, or else the opportunity will soon be lost. This requires that one must have a wise, responsive brain, which can be offered by intellect training.

However, the situation in our society is that, emphasis on intellect is seldom in absence. Take, the formal education system for example. In China, students begin to learn mathematics, physics, and other scientific disciplines which are believed best to improve their intelligence quotient(IQ) ever since elementary school. Almost all tests are oriented to examine this capacity, and both students and teachers are evaluated by the efficiency of their learning or teaching these disciplines. The same thing also happens in the job market. In job interviews applicants are usually required to offer their GPA record, and a variety of other certificates to prove their intellectual capacity, without which one will suffer form increasingly difficult in getting a job. From both sides it is hard to say that society does not place enough emphasis on the intellect as the speaker holds.

Actually, I believe the significance of intellect has been overstated, while other indispensable abilities, such as communication, emotion, will, etc., are unfortunately neglected by our society. Few schools in China require students to take courses on emotions, and this has already led to some problems. A case in point is the failure of "Teenager College Students Project" held by a leading Chinese university. Fifteen years ago, this university enrolled many teenagers who are highly talented in intellect, and provided the best faculties to teach them, hoping many of them could become "giant figures" in the future. However, time proves the project to be a failure: most students are now just ordinary people, and several of them even committed crimes and now in jails. Researchers find that the lack of high emotional quotient (EQ) accounts for this phenomenon. Although extremely talented, those students are rather week in communicating with others and facing frustrations, for both their parents and teachers always took the improvement of their intellectual ability the top priority, while left them little time to play with others or have lessons about emotional problems. The absence of communication skills and positive attitudes to their work led to the failure of cooperation with others, which is of vital importance in modern world; and even resulted in crime because some students were so easy to envy others and could not bear being inferior to others, which drove them to wound their classmates. This case reminds people that with high IQ while low EQ one will not only fail to implement his or her intellect to the work, but also might harm the society.

In the finally analysis, although the intellect capacity is indispensable in one's career, yet it is high time, I believe, that society should place more emphasis on the emotions, since the former has already been overstated, while the latter deserves more attention.

The speaker in the title statement holds that society has not placed enough emphasis on the intellect. In my observance,请教,是observation吧 however, too much has been paid on the intellect while other aspects, such as emotion, will, etc., has been unfairly neglected.

No doubt, intellect---the ability of reasoning, understanding, critical thinking, is of vital importance in modern society. In such an era of fast-spreading。。有这个词末?explosive information and keensevere competition, no one can succeed without proficient capacity of reasoning. Tons of information are confronting people every day, from which one must find the most valuable and make fast decision, or else the opportunity will soon be lost. This requires that one must have a wise, responsive brain, which can be offered by intellect training.

However,意思是顺着的,不要转折 the situation in our society is that,in our society, emphasis on intellect is seldom in absence. Take, the formal education system for example. In China, students begin to learnhave learned …ever since mathematics, physics, and other scientific disciplines which are believed best to improve their intelligence quotient(IQ) ever since elementary school.
Researchers find that the lack of highlack of sth. High??? emotional quotient (EQ) accounts for this phenomenon. Although extremely talented, those students are rather week in communicating with others and facing frustrations, for both their parents and teachers always took the improvement of their intellectual ability the top priority, while left them little time to play with others or have lessons about emotional problems. The absence of communication skills and positive attitudes to their work led to the failure of cooperation with others, 这里显的突兀了which is of vital importance in modern world;;后就是一个新的句子里,没主语啊这个 and even resulted in crime because some students were so easy to envy others and could not bear being inferior to others, which drove them to wound assult their classmates.
2。3段无非就是摆事实,说理就看第1段,但是你的第一段的分析不够深入,匆匆一句must find the most valuable and make fast decision, or else the opportunity will soon be lost完了。

3。learned …ever since 谢!
6。High EQ
