Tradition and modernization are incompatible. One must choose between them.
------------------------------------------
In the era of the fast changing society, consistent hot debates are derived from the gap between tradition and modernization. Do the two things are really incompatible and one has to choose between them? The speaker believes so. As far as I am concerned, I concede that traditions are facing great challenge in the current society moving toward modernization, nevertheless, tradition and modernization does not mutually exclusive. Both of them can function properly to meet the needs of our society.

Admittedly, tradition has being fiercely confronted by products, techniques and life styles resulting form modernization. In this grim straggle, modernization defeats its counterpart in most cases. In daily life, people more likely discard the traditional ways for the sake of pragmatic consideration. A case in point is the change of communication ways. Long gone are the days when most people use the traditional post mail system to contact each other. Owning to the instant communication tools brought by modern information technology, current people prefer emails and instant messengers to writing letters. Since the society is changing at an unprecedented pace and first-hand information plays a vital part in people's business success, most people would choose the modern ways to contact, negotiate and access information they want, for the traditional ways can no longer meet their practical needs.

However, practically speaking, most common people would probably choose modernization rather than tradition, though it does not follow that modernization and tradition are separated and even essentially conflict with each other. Two cases from music and historical heritage preservation will reveal the potentiality of the positive joint-effect between them.

In the music field, bands with new musical styles created by combination between classical music and modern elements have show great success at present. Take the Bond band for instance. 5 years ago, four good-looking ladies from Australia and Britain who are thoroughly trained in pure classical music joined together as the Bond band. The band successfully adds modern musical elements such as Latin, hip-pop beats into the classical music in a creative way during their performance. As it turns out, they have won great popularity not only among Western countries but also Asian and other nations with different cultural backgrounds. This case illustrates us that modernization and tradition are far from being incompatible. They can serve us appropriately in a cooperative manner.

When it comes to historical heritage preservation, the conflict between modernization and tradition might be more obvious. From the speaker’s perspective, historical buildings would most probably be torn down and save spaces for modern skyscrapers which can work as supermarket, financial center and grand restaurant for the purpose of economic development. However, it is the other way around. Instead of tearing down historical architectures, especially these national symbols, governments have enacted laws, subsidized money, and invited experts to protect, restore and prolong them. New cutting-edge techniques derived from modern sciences such physics and chemistry, are used to strengthen the fabric frame of old buildings, repair ancient paintings and consolidate historical memorials. In this process, instead of fighting with each other, modernization and tradition come together for the common purpose of preserving our heritage. Thus, the speaker's allegation that the two parts are incompatible is lack of credibility.

In conclusion, it is too extreme to assert that modernization and tradition are incompatible. While we might have to choose between them under daily practical circumstances, they are not mutually exclusive in fact.

"Jane, if you really want to do something, you work hard, you stick to it until there's an opportunity."

In the era of the fast changing society, consistently吧,不习惯两个ADJ放一个名词前面 hot debates are derived from the gap between tradition and modernization. When it comes to historical heritage preservation, the conflict between modernization and tradition might be more obvious. From the speaker’s perspectivewhat perspective??, historical buildings would most probably be torn down and save spaces for modern skyscrapers which can work as supermarket, financial center and grand restaurant for the purpose of economic development. However, it is the other way around. Instead of tearing down historical architectures, especially these national symbols, governments have enacted laws, subsidized money, and invited experts to protect, restore and prolong them.这一句看到了对传统的保护,没有看见传统和现代是否相容。后面到是解释清楚了,可laws, money, expert这一串又是想说明什么? New cutting-edge techniques derived from modern sciences such physics and chemistry, are used to strengthen the fabric frame of old buildings, repair ancient paintings and consolidate historical memorials. In this process, instead of fighting with each other, modernization and tradition come together for the common purpose of preserving our heritage.
