The speaker concludes the statement that technology cannot change the condition of humanity, because of there still has wars, violence, and poverty with us. I agree with the speaker that technology could not reduce them actually, but that doesn’t mean technology has no impact of human’s overall live condition or environment.

I agree with the statement insofar as there is no technological to prevent us from wars, violence, and poverty. When technology is getting progress from low-stage to high-stage, wars are still appearing by our side. Terrorist is threatened to every country nowadays, the explosion affairs in French’s subway is forever in people’s memorize; the peace of Middle East refuse to budget with each other; the confliction between 巴以冲突 is still the globality topic, and make their demos live in poverty, abhor, and starvation condition. Nevertheless, what are the main reasons of why we still are disturbed by wars, violence and poverty? Is it technology?

The main reasons that make wars still with us as far as I am concerned are the rapacity of human’s nature and aggressive ambitions, not technology. Rapacity of human nature lead human seemly difficult to satisfied with just one land, and they decide to loot others resources. For instance, Middle East fight a battle for petroleum(石油), their invasive behavior is to have more, to control the whole area. Technology doesn’t work for anything. As compare to Rodman: technology is the gun, even if there has bulletin in the gun, it could not catch one’s life, only when the Rodman, just like the rapacious, aggressive human nature, pulling the trigger, that will kill people. IF human could overcome its own greed and aggression, we could live happily without suffer the pains that wars, vi
olence and poverty bring to us.

Viewing around the whole world, those countries who really suffer grieves from wars, violence and poverty are the countries who are lack technology; those countries who are enjoy the progress of development of technology, haven’t been afflict by wars, violence and poverty for nearly hundreds years, especially the developed country.

Admittedly, technology has really developed our society to a higher stage from several aspects. Medically, many incurable diseases have been overcome by technology, we can live longer than the people who lived hundred years ago; aeronautical, rocket’s appear makes human fly out of earth, to explore more mysterious outer space and dive into the highest stage; in life aspects, the contribution of technology is too numerous to mention one by one. Most of human’s life condition is become more and more comfortable, automatically, and modern; refrigeratory, light, microwave oven, DVD and so on, all of them make us accept that the condition of humanity is more improved and progressed than hundred years ago. At least in China and Indian, because of the fast development of technique, these two countries are basically cast off the poverty in their countries, and now becomes the fastest developing countries among all.

Of course, when technology is progress rapidly, their still threaten the human’s life in some aspects: 1. Environment is now being damaged by the pollution of industrial technique, it makes the air dirty and do harm to human’s health. 2. With the network technique developing, there appears more apathy, cheat and betray between humans.

In sum, despite the problems that wars bring to us in lesser countries, if the statement mentions the process narrowly, the contribution of economic, societies, and living aspect, most of our overall condition of humanity has made big progress over the past hundred years.
