With the development of the civilization, more and more people and journalistic media have the right to express their views freely; simultaneously more scandals are published to the people than ever. Whether the scandal is helpful or harmful to our society? As far as I am concerned, I fundamentally agree with the assertion that scandals is useful for people to find and solve the problem, furthermore it could prevent the similar problems from happening again to some extent. Unfortunately, not all scandals discovered in our society are true. If we accepted every scandal without any judgment, it might bring chaos or disorder to our society.

We often heard that officials' sexual case, athletes cheating in the sports competition, unfair commerce trades through the multi-media, the newspaper and magazine, broadcasting, TV, Internet and so on. Although scandals reveal the darkness and ugliness of our society, admittedly, the true scandals play a crucial role in many fields, such as politics, academia, and economics. On the one hand, scandals could attract attention of people and government, and make them focus on them, which is helpful to find and solve problems. Just like a famous philosopher Descartes said (and I paraphrase) the first step of solving the problem is to find what is the problem. In some sense, scandals just expose a part of deficient in the management or imperfect in the law. If the loopholes in our established system are not discovered or not reported publicly, people and the government never know it, it impossible to take measures to correct or complete it. In this point, the scandals are helpful to the development of the nation.

On the other hand, sandals like warning bells which function is reminding and admonishing people not to do the similar things. It is an intangible but strong spiritual power to inhibit people. As long as the athlete is found cheating or eating exhilarant, he or she not only lose the cup and honor but is forbidden to take part in the matches in several times. Sometimes, only one scandal can destroy the whole career of the athlete. There are numerous such examples in sports history. Of course, other athlete should avoid the similar mistaken, which will improve the development of sports. So does the academic. Plagiarism brings about nothing except the disrepute to scholars. It narrates a simply truth every success in academic is based on laborious research task, not the falsification, which will accelerate the step of academic.
   
Because scandals can attract the attention of citizen and influence their attitudes, its function is abused by some people in order to gain profits or politic purpose. Just like the Chinese philosopher Chairman Mao said “believing everything is same dangerous as believing nothing”. Regarding to scandals, all of us should have objective and right attitude stead of believing everything without any deliberation. If the government takes action to punish the people in the scandals without careful scrutiny and investigation, of course that will result in regrets and irreparable mistake.

The scandal to our society just likes illness to people. The disease represents unhealthy somewhere in our body. What we do when we feel uncomfortable? The best way is to see doctor and probe the root cause, then take medicine and take measures to guard against the disease in long term. Of course, we must confirm it is real illness firstly before we acts. If the government and people can make good use of the real function of scandals, I believe the scandals will be few and few in the future.
