2 The following appeared in a letter sent by a committee of homeowners from the Deerhaven Acres to all homeowners in Deerhaven Acres.
'Seven years ago, homeowners in nearby Brookville community adopted a set of restrictions on how the community's yards should be landscaped and what colors the exteriors of homes should be painted. Since then, average property values have tripled in Brookville. In order to raise property values in Deerhaven Acres, we should adopt our own set of restrictions on landscaping and housepainting.'

The committee of homeowners from Deerhaven Acres suggests they should adopt a set of restrictions on landscaping and housepainting just as Brookville did seven years ago. The speaker appears confident that this action will surely raise property values in Deerhaven Acres because in Brookville average property values have increased three times after the restrictions are adopted. At first glance the argument seems sound and persuasive, but I am afraid that it suffers from several fallacies which undermine its validity.

The first seemly overwhelming evidence the author provides in this letter is that average property values tripled in Brookville since it adopted a set of restrictions on its yards’ landscape and color of exterior of homes. Unfortunately little information points out whether it is actually this set of restrictions that lead to the increase of average property values in Brookville. Among various factors that influence property prices, the outer appearance is but a minor one. Such as the local transportation means(交通设施怎么说呀) and the arrangement of houses, these elements play a weighty role in deciding average property values. So in brief, basing on the available evidence we could hardly draw the conclusion that the restrictions lead to the augment of property values.

Another salient flaw the arguer commits in this argument is that it has been seven years since Brookville community’s restrictions were applied. Seven years is rather a long period, during which many other actions might have been taken in Brookville community. Additionally it is very likely that what the public appreciate and emphasize have been changed too much during the seven years. They might used to put much emphasis on the landscaping or housepainting, while these days they regard more attention on the inner structure and fitment. In other words, measures seven years ago are perhaps not apt to the current situation.

Last but not least, granted that the restrictions on landscaping and housepainting truly raised average property values in Brookville, the arguer makes a mistake by simply copying ideas and measures from Brookville to Deerhaven Acres. The geographic locations and condition of development in these two areas are not available in this argument. Lacking such vital evidence, it is impossible for us to reach the conclusion that property values in Deerhaven Acres will also increase after it adopts a set of restrictions.

To summarize, the suggestion that Deerhaven Acres should have some restrictions on landscaping and housepainting is not persuasive as it stands. More concrete information and investigation regarding to the current influential factors to property values are needed before further actions and ultimate measures.

我觉得现在写作文都是在拷贝范文的句型,没有什么进步,一起加油。
