As for program producers, the higher audience rating a program has, the more profit they could gain. As a result, in order to attract more audiences, they must play some easy and comfortable programs, such as the situation comedy and inane game show, and they have to discard comparatively instructive program, which request audience to speculate deep actively as opposed to passively receiving during watching TV. The potential character of television determines that not all brainpower of people can be used utterly to study when they watching TV as reading books. Generally speaking, television cannot play the same role in learning as books since it is an informative and recreational access for people rather than study way.

More over, it is the inherent trait of reading books that make it the primary approach to learning today. First, reading books forces readers to ponder and absorb knowledge actively, which fires the imagination and memory of their brain, on matter the young or the old. And what is better, this ability will company them and is beneficial to their study throughout the whole life. Contrastively, watching TV cannot do that. Last, books are the resources which could be reviewed and cross-referenced as any time according to people’s will easily. In contrast, it is harder for people to replay what has performed program in TV without other facilities. In balance, as a traditional means of obtaining knowledge, reading books still maintains its pivotal status as it once did, therefore it is applied in almost all schools and universities till now.

However, no one can deny that some television programs could provide the same knowledge as books. 2. 我的观点好像和你们不太一样，我觉得不能忽略题目的后半句，特别是learning，所以着重讨论这点。在获得知识方面，我的观点是目前只能是一个补充，而不是主要的途径。当然它能提供的信息量在数量和时效性上是超过书籍的，这个我在文章中也提到了啊，但是获得信息和学习应该是两个不同的概念吧
