In the era of knowledge and wealth cumulated in the speed of boom, many people believe that looking back for an understanding of the past provides little guidance for living in the present. On the contrary, some people hold the point of view that guidance from history still does well to the modern people and the society. Taking into account varies aspects, my opinion is that understanding history could also provide valuable guidance in any time.

On one hand, looking back to for an understanding of the past brings in wisdoms for individual. One Chinese old saying goes; if you use history as a mirror, you could get a reconsideration of your life. In human history, there is something that maintains the same from time to time. From radio, tape player, CD, MP3 or IPod, people would never give up listening to music. No matter how a young gentleman meet his girl friend in the first time, form family party, night club or internet chatting room, they will never forget say "I love you" to each other. Human nature would never be changed with time goes by. So, looking back to history could bring wisdom of life for every people.

On the other hand, understanding history provide the possibility that human being could ovoid the same mistake as a whole. As a matter of fact, human being has suffered a lot from war, hungry and disease. There is only about 20 years between the end of World War One and the beginning of World War 2. Historical researcher may have given lots of reason why Germany pulls the trigger of war, but I think one major reason is that the world did not look back to the history and built up a new stable world rule. Main countries in the world did not realize the potential risk that bought up by the Nazi Leader Adolf Hitler not only to Germany but also to the entire Europe.

Nonetheless, decision-making should be based on the situation case by case. One could not simply make his/her decision just because of historical experience. Without considering concrete situation, it is easy to find experimentalism mistake in our daily life. Meanwhile, with the development of science and technology, the globlized world is running in a new kind of way and speed. Lots of things people dealing with in their daily life are never thought about even a few years before. If people insist on the old way of life and work they may be harder and harder to achieve success. It is only when we combine our guidance from history to the new social and technology circumstance could human being benefit from the experience in the present day.

In sum, based on all the reasons mentioned above, my conclusion is that guidance of history is as important as the understanding of new world. If we make the best use of historical guidance, it would be so beneficial for individual and the entire society.
