The author suggests that radio station KNOW should shift its programming from rock-and-roll music to a continuous news format, on the evidence that the number of older people increased while the total number of listeners declined in listening area, that sales of recorded music decreased, and the success of station in neighboring cities with continuous news  and a result of a survey. However, the suggestion is not persuasive, for a careful examination exposes many flaws in some aspects.

First, the author claims an increasing of older people and a dramatically decreasing of total listeners within their listening area as a fact to support his suggestion, which is doubtful. Because no information indicates that older people dislike rock-and-roll music, while favorite news, and the main reason of the declination of total number of listeners is unclearly presented, it is questionable to ascribe the declination of listeners to the rock-and-roll music and shift it to a news. Besides, it is uncertain that the continuous news is welcomed. Thus, such evidence is unsupportive.

Moreover, the author cites an additional evidence to support the dislike of rock-and-roll music, which also inefficiently substantiates the suggestion. Though it is the fact the sales of recorded music decreased, no data of rock-and-roll recorded music is quoted, and it is possible that it increased, which exhibits the popularity of rock-and-roll music, if so, to change the format if unwise. Therefore, further information should be provided, or the evidence is not cogent.

The last, it is over simple to bolster the suggestion based on the success of stations in neighboring cities and the result of a survey. For one hand, the success of stations in neighboring cities does not surely indicate the success of KNOW, for the details of listeners are not clear, perhaps that the listeners in neighboring cities prefer news contributes the success. For the other hand, the result of the survey is not cogent, since the survey is taken just before the recent election, local citizens intends to interested in politics as the attention and care to social affairs, which is unsure to be a lasting favorite, besides, their preferences perhaps vary from politics to rock-and-roll music now. Hence, such evidence could not strong strengthen the author's suggestion.

To sum up, the author unconvincingly recommends radio station KNOW should shift its programming from rock-and-roll music to a continuous news format, based on the inefficient evidence of the number of listeners and the decreasing of recorded music, as well as the success of neighboring cities and the result of a survey. As a result, more information should be offered to demonstrate the  attitude of listeners on rock-and-roll music and news to make the argument valid.
