When people come across the evaluation of people's achievements, we face a dilemma: is it fair to grant to offspring with up-to-date cognition system and beyond the oppression of religion and government, or just open the gate letting flows of contemporary thoughts and ideas in, who understand the current condition and gain the benefits by themselves? In my view, the answer varies from case to case.

To begin with, in some areas especially theoretical ones, descendents can decide the contribution of seniors mainly for two reasons. Firstly, no one looks at the world with pristine eyes, without considering the current official policy or religious guideness. Then the verdict of comers might be more objective. History is replete with such examples. At the time there was few people so smart that they did not believe in the prejudices learning of Aristotelians, few people so nonconformist that they did not refuse any creative works, Galieo struggled with the Inquisition and is reborn centuries later, and Van Gogh only sold one piece of painting in his life time and his sunflowers and bright yellow appearing in his paintings are appreciated by scholars now. Therefore, free from tyranny, oppression and persecution, people who live after the celebrities are not susceptible to these man-made elements and make an impartial decision: their life time is not their Judgment Day!

Secondly, misunderstanding of the contemporaries with greatness, however clear and clean the social environment is, is to some degree inevitable. A transcendent person is named transcendence, for we can not always follow his or her talent as a result of differences of knowledge, cognition and ideology. With the development of science and technology and improvement of our cognition system, when we comers pick up their relics again in esteem, we will one day consider them most valuable. Helpful to the society and human beings as the celebrities are, there is none of a deadline to decide their greatness.

On the other hand, not all the qualified people are so unfortunate that fail to procure their honor, wealth and happiness in their transient life time. Some of eminent, prominent and preeminent people contribute to the society and benefit most citizens at their time. Thus contemporaries who see the greatness, hear the greatness, and benefit from the greatness can easily decide on it, instead of posterities, the outsiders. A current example involves the latest winner of 2006 Nobel Prize for Peace, Muhammud Yunus, who has taken his efforts to create economic and social development from below. When millions of the poor have got his micro-credit in Bengal, Yunus is famous for greatness by contemporaries.

In sum, the evolution on greatness must be tortuous course. And the speaker overlooks many great individuals who have made contribution to the contemporaries and therefore are admired by their generation.

(这几个排比例子很好,很有力度)Therefore, free from tyranny, oppression and persecution, people who live after the celebrities are not susceptible to these man-made elements and make an impartial decision: their life time is not their Judgment Day!

(把with the development of science and technology and improvement of our cognition system放到最后,即When we comers pick up their relics again in esteem, we will one day consider them most valuable with the development of science and technology and improvement of our cognition system。解释:研一时听外教讲他们喜欢主题句开门见山的写法,而将定语、状语什么的放到后面。放前面是中国学生的通病,仅供参考~~) Helpful to the society and human beings as the celebrities are, there is none of a deadline to decide their greatness.
