There are people who pursue their own interests for purely personal reasons make great contributions to the rest of the world, but from my observation, people who have the motion to act for the public good are more likely to benefit the world.
  People pursue their interests for personal reasons can also contribute to the society, since people who do things for their own interests are more willing to put their all energy and attention on the work they do. Take an artist as an example. Beethoven find his great interests on music though he cannot even hear. He became a great composer because of the spirit of persistence confronting his miserable life and the great interests on music. His compositions become an important part of classical music, which appreciated many people because they get spiritual encouragement from his music. Beethoven pursue his music career because of his keen love on music and great determination to challenge his life rather than the goal of benefiting to the world , but he actually inspired lots of people and made great contribution on classical music. It is his interests and the persistence in his interests that make him benefit the rest of the world.
   Nonetheless, there are more people who have the dream of contributing to the world finally achieved their goals. Martin Luther King Jr. made a far-reaching and moving speech named “I have a dream” which clearly showed his determination fighting for civil right. His great motion really works and thus he successfully changed the traditional view of race. Many people began to sympathize the protesters who faced the undeserved turmoil at the hands of the government. Consequently, America relinquished the Jim Crow laws. Martin Luther king successfully made a significant contribution in the process of eliminating racial discrimination and human rights. It can be seen that people who have great ambitions take more responsibilities than people who pursue their lives for purely personal reasons, which drive them to bear all the hardships toward greater accomplishments. So people who have the willing of benefiting others are more likely to make contributions and have greater influence.
  In today’s society, the combination of one’s own interests and ambition is more instructive to the world. A person who pursues his interests while having the mission of benefiting the world would act for public good with no doubt. Since they works for what they are interested in, they must have genius and competence in it which will stimulate their potential and contribute more. Bill Gates is a good example. He has great interests and genius on computer while also has the dream of making influence to the world. He really made great impact on the development of internet ,which is also his love career, and he donated all his assets for the public welfare. Bill Gates is a combination of interests and mission. It is his love career that makes him devote on what he is doing, and it is his ambition to the world that makes him benefit the world greatly.
  In conclusion, people who try to act for the public good are more likely to benefit the world than people who pursue their interests for personal reasons. And people who combine his ambition with his own interests will be the talents necessary to the society and make more contributions.
