提纲:
1.

The speaker claims that toomuch attention was attached to individuals in the study of history and it isthe group of people whose identities has been forgotten instead of famous fewmade the most significant events and trends in history. As far as I amconcerned, I agree that the history study places too much emphasis onindividuals. Yet the most significant events and trends in history were bothmade by famous few and group of people.

To begin with, the fact thatindividuals are placed much emphasis in the study of history lies in twoaspects. On the one hand, the history document took record few main persons onbehalf of others in writing down history events. Lacking the sufficientinformation about the exact events in history makes the history researchershave no choice but to pay most attention to the individuals. It is the historyrecord deficiency that leads to that phenomenon. One the other hand, theindividuals are truly responsible for the significant events. We must admitthat some talents create the significant events in history. A case in point isthat James Watt, a single man, who invented the first steam engine which provokedthe first industrial revolution. Moreover it is Einstein who put forward Theoryof Relativity and also gave a perfect interpretation of the photoelectriceffect. It is Shakespeare, who created the greatest English Literature. Inshort, history researches mainly focus their research on individuals due to theinadequate history record and prominent individual contributions.

However, the masses play apivotal role in history, making the most vital events and trends in history. Thedevelopment of history progressed due to the accumulation efforts of populace. For example, in the science real many scientific findings are a result ofcollaboration and not the individual contribution. Although in some cases theymay bear the name of the person who first published them, as in 'Darwin'stheory of evolution'. Moreover in the American Revolution, groups of peoplerallied and attempted to gain independence from British Empire. Through effortsof groups instead of few individuals, American Declaration of Independence hasbeen achieved. The common people made the history development and contributedthemselves to the momentous events and trends in history.

Finally, both famous few andpopulace are the impetus of history. Famous few provide the driving forcebehind the accomplishment and the populaces bring the vision into fruits. Forexample just as mentioned above, although Watt invented the first engine steam,it is the industries which put the steam engine into production line thatcaused the first industry Revolution. Another supporting example is thatChurchill was an eloquent speaker and his lecture encouraged the British soldiersto fight bravely in the war. Yet without the soldiers’ endeavors, the Britishwill not win the final battle. In all the victory of British owes to excellentleader Churchill and the brave British army. These examples above canillustrate that history millstone is the result of both excellent few andpopulace.

In conclusion, individuals andcommon people both contributed enormously to the significant events and trendsin history. The research of history places great importance on individuals dueto some inadequate history information and the outstanding leadership of sometalents.
