With the increasing globalization related to nearly every aspects of the whole society, should all nations devote to develop a global university in which students of every country can engage? And is this decision able to cope with the world’s most persistent social problems, as the speaker maintains? In some degree a global university can deniably enable the corporation which contributes the solving of lasting problems. On balance in my view there stills exists some questions and deficiencies in the process of founding a global university which are both overlooked by the speaker.

Admittedly, a global university can promote the communication between different countries and cultures, and then play a critical role in solving some complex issues which cannot be solved effectively by other means. For instance, the issue of climate change that attracts more and more attention nearly in these years can only be mitigated by the strengths of every country. So in this sense the founding of a global university is meaningful in that it not only educate the youth to aware the severity of the global climate change but also collect the information and advanced technology timely of every country, especially the developed ones to be exerted in the practice. In turn this accomplishment may encourage the scholars and researches in the global university to make new progresses in the solving of some lasting issues.

In addition, founding a global university can also make every country whose students engaged concern their own responsibilities to help solve the global persistent problems. If some counties pay no attention and even refuse the truth of the emergency and complexity of some global issues, let alone assume certain responsibilities and do some contribution. Nevertheless, the speaker overlooks the other side of these complicated issues. Some persistent global problems cannot be solved even under the corporation of the global strengths. For example, a kind of issues, such as corruption, criminal and war, is the product of human nature. These lasting issues has never changed remarkable in human history and continue to exist in reality. Accordingly, a global university may affect little in the process of solving these innate issues.

Moreover, it is not easy to found a global university under today’s social circumstances. The difficulties involve the inadequate education resources of some countries, the different education policies and so forth. And all of them will become impediments in the process of supporting the development of a global university. And even a global university is already founded, how to make this large education system function well is a new headache to every engaged country.

All in all, it is a good advice to found a global university which can intense the communication of cultures and technologies, and then provides a new means to solve some lasting problems in our society. However, some old problems may not be solved effectively and some new problems may emerge in the process of founding, so we have to face the reality and revalue the meanings of developing a global university.
