TOPIC: ISSUE36 - "The greatness of individuals can be decided only by those who live after them, not by their contemporaries."

I feel that two sorts of opinions should call for a balance, since both have important influence on the final assessment. It's true that people in later times has a clear view on the judgment of individuals in history since what they did during their life has already show the influence to human society. Yet by taking into account the instant effect of their achievement and the antecedent influence passed by education to later generations, their contemporaries might also have a crucial power in assessing the achievement of individuals.

It should be noticed in the first place that people in later chronological times live in a life in which the behavior and achievement of their ancestors has clearly shown the influence no conservative thoughts will impede their merit. In fact, history has provided with solid proof that if the work of the individual has true merit and bring significant benefit towards the human society, what the individual achieved should continuously benefit the whole human life, especially those behind the invention or innovation, since it might take some time for the new ideas or inventions to be accepted and used in human society. For example, the impressionists such as Monet and Van Gough were actually once regarded as unorthodox even decadent artist creating art works which cheating their audiences, as was commented by their contemporaries who were still dominated by conservative thoughts about art. Nevertheless, they did come up with a new approach of create paintings by emphasizing the effect of light and leaving the trace of brush strokes in the canvas. As a consequence, they were now highly admired and their thoughts in art were rated as a great revolution in the field of depicting image and life. Therefore, when time weakened the power adversely act on new thoughts, the innovation will be judged without prejudice. And the people who live after the great individuals will see the true whole picture of the influence of the previous work.

On the other hand, different from the invisible thoughts, tangible great inventions might instantly change people's life and the people devoted in such beneficial process would be honored and celebrated, which is quite reasonable. For instance, the invention of computers and the industry and business based on them forever changed the way people work and live. As a matter of fact, soon after the invention, with the accelerating development of computer technology, the popularity it has on the whole population increased significantly, especially when personal computer was sold in the market with the reasonable price for an average people. As a result, people felt the improvement in their life and those professors in Pennsylvania University who initially completed the design and assembling of ENIAC, the first computer in the world, were praised and honored. Therefore, the great inventors whose achievement will soon conduct a revolution in the world can be quickly recognized by their contemporaries, and earn the fame and prestige they deserve.

In addition, the comment made by contemporaries will strongly affect the later generation through the means of education, sometimes unconsciously. When learning history, thoughts from ancestors and their attitude towards were accepted by the learners in one way or another. And failing to have a complete view in the achievement of one individual, later reader might just convince what was written in the books of the contemporaries of an individual. It is actually quite possible since most students in the schools or universities will not check and verify what they learned about one historic individual.

In final analysis, I would point out that the assessment of an individual actually depended on what kind of great work one had done. If the work is a insightful thought, it might encounter with conservative thoughts and will be recognized later. But those with tangible achievement will usually earn the fame quickly. And for a complete picture on one's achievement, taking into consideration the comments from two sides is necessary.

恩,分开阐述的很好的,很清晰。

It should be noticed in the first place that people in later chronological times(不要chronological的,因为time里头包含了这个~不过词汇很高级啊,在考试的45分钟内可以写出这个已经相当好了。。。) live in a life in which the behavior and achievement of their ancestors has clearly shown the influence no (on吧?)conservative thoughts will(would) impede their merit. (这句话的意思是说“人们生活在一个时代,这个时代是被先辈的行为和成就影响了的时代”吗?)In fact, history has provided with solid proof that if the work of the individual has true merit and bring significant benefit towards the human society, what the individual achieved should continuously benefit the whole human life, especially those behind the invention or innovation, since it might take some time for the new ideas or inventions to be accepted and used in human society. For example, the impressionists such as Monet and Van Gough (梵高不是印象派的,反而他是一致反对印象派的,诶,我装逼了。。。)were actually once regarded as unorthodox even decadent artist creating art works which cheating their audiences, as was commented by their contemporaries who were still dominated by conservative thoughts about art. Nevertheless, they did come up with a new approach of create paintings by emphasizing the effect of light and leaving the trace of brush strokes in the canvas. As a consequence, they were now highly admired and their thoughts in art were rated as a great revolution in the field of depicting image and life. Therefore, when time weakened the power adversely act(acting) on new thoughts, the innovation will be judged without prejudice. And the people who live after the great individuals will see the true whole picture of the influence of the previous work.

As a matter of fact, soon after the invention, with the accelerating development of computer technology, the popularity it has on the whole population increased significantly, especially when personal computer was sold in the market with the reasonable price for an average people.这句话有点冗长,建议修改句式,畅达一点好~(我又装逼了。。。) As a result, people felt the improvement in their life and those professors in Pennsylvania University who initially completed the design and assembling of ENIAC, the first computer in the world, were praised and honored. Therefore, the great inventors whose achievement will soon conduct a revolution in the world can be quickly recognized by their contemporaries, and earn the fame and prestige they deserve.
