As for the issue that who is on earth the one bring something of lasting value to society just as the speaker concerned, artists or critics? I fundamentally share my argument that artists play a more important role in the creation of lasting value than the critic. That is to say, it is actually the artist who gives society something of lasting value.

Admittedly, I concede that the critic is important to the creation of literature for their remarks can help us to choose the most valuable books that can satisfied our needs. With the development of technologies and economics, there are one million to two million of books which had been stated by statisticians are published every year. It is impossible for us to choose our favorite book from so many books for the energy and time of human is limited. Grounded in this reason, the critic who is specialized in reading and evaluating books can save us much time in the choice of various books.

However, it is true that the critic is of importance, but I still insist that the artist actually create truly worthy value for the reason that it is the artists not the critics who give us inspiration and courage at spiritual. Consider, for example, the active theme of" The Old Man and The Sea" whose writer is Hemingway-one can be destroyed but cannot be defeated-reveals the essence of life philosophy encourage hundreds of people no matter the young or the old to fight with difficulties in their lives. What is more, so far, the novel can still be on the best seller’s list which is enough to demonstrate the lasting value of “The Old Man and The Sea”, while no one could remember the remarks on it. Turn our attention to another example. The hero of The Adventure of Tom Sawyer written by Mark Twain who has a lot of eminent qualities such as longing for freedom, bravely admitting shortcomings and mistakes and adventurous spirit help many confused people out. At the same way, there is no individuals could remind of its comments as well, while the value of the novel is lasting until now. Simply put, the theme of novel conveyed by writers is the true creator of value.

Moreover, compare and contrast between the artist and the critic, no matter what others may say, we have to admit that the remarks from the critic are based on the arts. In other words, if having no artists, there would not be the profession—the critic. That is like one chef who is very skillful at cooking different kinds of delicious dishes, however, if he was not provided with ingredients, it is not of possibility for him to cook any foods. Accordingly, there are parallels with the relationship between the artist and the critic.

To sum up, the remarks of the critic, in fact, are just instructions leading us to significant books. Because of the above analysis, I fundamentally agree with the assertion of speaker for the simple but fundamental reason that no artists, no critics.
