The integrated task's answer:

In the lecture, the professor made several points about the decline of Easter Island's culture 500 years ago. The professor argues that the consequence of decline is caused by outside influences, it is unreasonable to consider whether there are facts about the decline of Easter Island's society that would be explained by a hypothesis of an invasion. However, the listening contents that it is a sad story of a native culture that did not have the foresight to sustain itself.

The first point that the professor uses to cast doubt on the reading is that the fact has to do with trees. According to the professor, most Pacific island societies have managed to find an ecologically balanced way of living by using but not overexploiting natural resources such as trees. But now, it has been destructed by invaders who deplete an area's natural resources without any concern for the future. It is differs from the listening in that the listening states the archaeological evidence shows that the islanders used tree logs to move the statues into position, so as the number of statues increased, more and more trees had to be cut, until finally, 500 years ago, there were no more left.

Another point that the professor uses to cast doubt on the reading is the facts about the large stone statues on Easter Island could also support the idea of an invasion. The professor claims that yet about the same time that the island became deforested, islanders stopped making these huge statues. An invasion would help explain why this traditional practice came to a sudden end. However, the reading states that once the trees were gone, the islanders could no longer built rafts to fish at sea, and so they could no longer catch big fish. As the necessities of life became harder and harder to get, the islanders no longer had the time and energy to create big statues.

Finally, the professor states that, on the contrary of the reading, a religion called the "Birdman", existed before 1500, which suggests that this new religious practice may have been introducted by outsiders. This directly contrast what the reading passage indicates, because the old gods would not seem to be protecting them any more. So it would be natural for the islanders to have developed a different religious idea, hoping that the new god would ensure them a better life.

Visiting museum is the best way to learn about a country.

My answer:
It is said that the history is the mirror of future. As for the theme, I think the museum is the mirror of a country. I am really amazing that learning the history of a country through visiting museum.

There are lots of historic relic of the country can be visited in the museum. When we are visiting the relic, we can fond out the culture of the country. I mean, we can know the development of the country. For example, we can see terra-cotta figures in Xi'an, where is the capital of Qin Dynasty. They are the representation of that age as well as the symbol of the country.

The museum of a place tell an outsider much about what people of that place value culturally. A trip to the New York Metropolitan Museum of Art would tell the visitor that Americans are interested in art from all over the world, but by comparing the size of the European Art collection with that of the Asian Art collection, one might conclude that Americans feel a strong cultural affinity with European Art. Similarity, a tourist to a place like San Francisco, where there is a large museum devoted solely to Asian Art, might conclude that people from San Francisco have a stronger affinity to Asian culture.

Meanwhile, many people who travel simply want to relax and be entertained, and museums also provide an excellent venue for leosure. Even most nominally educational museums provide exviting attractions like movie theaters and special cultural performances such as dances, gourmet dinners, lectures, and musical performances from jazz to rick and roll. Many museums in the United Statues hold special nights once a week where young people can drink and socialize. Museums are not only spaces for education and culture, but have also become important entertainment and social venues.
