Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? In today’s world, to speak well is more important than to write well. Use specific reasons and examples to support your answer.

Have ever stood in a stage, looked by thousands of people, while cannot speak any word?  Have ever failed to grasp an ideal position in an interview because of bad self introduction and recommendation?  Have ever kept in silence during group discussion, holding a number of innovative ideas in mind? If you have never had such experiences, you would never now what a vital role the public speaking ability played in our lives.

To begin with, public speaking skill is an indispensable ability which is required everywhere in 21st century. Whatever you do, wherever you are, and however you live your life, escaping from public speaking is impossible. Coming to a new surrounding, you have to introduce yourself by talking with others confidently and friendly; Being a member of college course, you have to do presentations now and then in order to be involved in class; Even going to purchase a favorite while expensive book, you have to speak persuasively to ask for a discount. Our lives have been filled with numerous situations in which only through proper public speaking can you achieve a better life.

Another reason of equal importance is that a strong public speaking skill guarantees you a promising future. On account of the quickening pace of life, the ruthless and relentless competition goes increasingly fierce, imposing unprecedented pressure on each and every individual. If a person is equipped with an outstanding public speaking skill, no doubt he/she would be the winner in job fairs in that almost every enterprise emphasizes the ability of public speaking again and again.

Finally, with skillful public speaking ability, it is easier for us to obtain recognition from the crowd. A lack of communication or poor communication is roots of misunderstanding, which keeps a power to ruin our interpersonal relationships. Even after 3 years, I still feel thankful to my English instructor in the middle school for providing me an opportunity to debating with her in English before 54 classmates, from which I obtained a wide recognition in my language learning and made several true friends who hold the same opinion with me. Obviously, an eloquent character brings about the fellow's recognition about your personality and abilities.

Admittedly, writing well exerts a positive influence upon our lives, however, compared with that of speaking well, it pales. Hence I reinforce my standpoint that speaking well benefits our lives in every aspect, even outweighing the importance of writing well.
