Some movies are serious, designed to make the audience think. Other movies are designed primarily to amuse and entertain. Which type of movie do you prefer? Use specific reasons and examples to support your answer (03/23/07).


It is universally acknowledge that movie imposes a tremendous influence on people's life, and there is a general discussion nowadays as to what is the most popular kind of movies in this planet. Some people who advocate people should absorb useful information from movies, argue that the most popular movies are those that enable people fulfill with inspiration, but people who are conscious of the key role that entertainment function of movie play, on the other hand, claim that movies which can give people laugh and relax are the first choice for everyone. Coincident with opinion of many people is my heartfelt agreement with the standpoint that I always choose the movies base on the standard that how can movies amuse people.

In the first place, people are desiring to find some tools that can help them obtain joy when they get rid off daily works. Movies are definitely the most powerful weapon to fight with people’s anxious and troubles. As can be seen in a statistics released by experts indicates that more than 87 percent of people choose watching movies as the primary way to relax themselves. There are numerous famous comedy films in the movie's history, such as Sherk Serials, Mr. Been Serials and so on. So classic are these movies that we can even remember almost all funny scenes. Besides, most of companies give movie tickets to their employees as the gift periodically for the purpose that amazing comedy films could impact the work efficiency in a positive way. How to entertain people, moreover, is also the motivation for directors when then spare no effort to shot striking movies.

In the second place, watching comedy films is one of the best way to build a wonderful relationship with our friend. As well known, some people always complain they cannot find perfect opportunities to get along with their friends well. Suppose that people will have enough topics which are the prerequisite of a well development communication after a fabulous comedy film they enjoyed together. For an instance, people can share their imaginary ideas of possibility of a charming Shrek fall into love with another beautiful girl. The more the people talk with each other, the more they know each other. To the already familiar facts, abundant further examples may be added.

Preferring the movies which are serious and designed to make the audience think are those who deem that Movie is a good form of media to equipped people with useful knowledge. For example, historical films is beneficial for recognizing noted events like World War II, the movie "Saving the soldier Ryan" can well exemplifies the undeniable effect on the study of the war. However, we also can read some relative books to tell us more details which may be ignored in the screen.

From what has been discussed above, though the acceptability that the advantages of the movie which can help people accumulate knowledge are considerable, they cannot compete with the benefits that comedy films lead to, so as far as I am concerned, I always prefer the comedy film.
