Generally speaking, the purpose of education is to cultivate the individual become the person who has his/her own personality, who obtains a kind of survival technique, who can communicates and cooperates with others. Compulsory education is necessary because it teaches these basic skills to children, everyone has the chance to get it. But for the higher education, the situation is different. I don't think it suits for everyone.

To start with, getting higher education means people have obtained some basic knowledge in that field already. For example, no one can get Ph.D degree directly, there are some requirements. That is reasonable because if people want to get further education they must show their ability to fulfill it. Take my major, high performance computing, for instance, I am pursuing my master degree now, I had to learn some basic courses such as math, computer architecture and even reading English. If I have not learned those courses before, it is for sure that I would not understand the knowledge what the professor taught us.

Furthermore, it is rather discourage to let all the students get higher education. Learning knowledge is not an easy work. Students should pay much attention and work hardly on it. For now, students work hard mainly because they know there are not enough opportunities for everyone to join the college. Everyone wants to live a happy life without hard work, without pressure and without competition, but the real situation is another thing, people should learn how to survive on this world. If students are told no matter what score they get, they will have chances to go to college, I am sure that no one wants to pay so much energy on study as now.

The last but not the least, it is not necessary for everyone to reach higher education. Our society is such a large and complex world. It needs all kinds of people not just the higher educated learner. We need workers in the factory, also we need engineers to make the blueprint. There are also plenty of jobs which do not need high education, what they need is experience, such as making China and mode. Besides, people should try to find their own way to survive and to find the job they like to do, so they will work with passion and more efficiency.

Summing up, education is just the way to help people success and make our world become a better place to live. There are still a lot of ways to fulfill this dream. No matter higher education or lower education, if each individual finds their best ways to survive and to make contribution to our society, I think they are successful.
