It is known that history plays a significant role in contemporary society and thus the chief benefit of the study of history is fuelling a debate among all walks of the life. I sanction that history could break down the illusion that people in one period of time are considerably different from people who lived at any other time in history. Notwithstanding, many characteristics of human beings have remained constant from the study of history proved and moreover, there are a multitude of benefits which stem from the study of history have a positive impact on individuals’ lifetime.

On the one hand, the importance of the history in explaining and understanding change in human behavior is no mere abstraction. In terms of customs, from the research of fossils, there is no doubt that the residents who lived in Paleolithic utilized the ropes to calculate the number of livestock. While in the ancient feudal society, merchants counted the quantities by abacus and nowadays computers have significantly influence on society around the world. As a consequence, history is indispensable to understanding why such changes occur and how the civilizations of our society were being developed; furthermore, we human could have perspicuous understandings of the difference between people who lived at different period in history.

On the other hand, it is obvious that the human nature can not be affected by history. Consider, Taoism and Confucianism, for example, composed an important and brilliant part of citizens’ brief and value in ancient China. No matter how much the history of China changes, the Taoism and Confucianism’s brief and value of Chinese people remain constant. These historical data include evidence about how families, communities and whole countries were formed about how they have evolved while remain cohesion.

Although person could have perspicuous understandings of the change in human behavior through the study of history, yet history contributes to many other facets of individual’s lifetime. First of all, history provides a terrain for contemplation. Studying the history of individuals in the past allows person to learn how to avoid the same mistakes in the future, at the same time, to absorb the beneficial spirits and characteristics from the famous people.

Furthermore, what is most important is that many famous achievements in the past could enlighten person’s inspiration and courage. In 1969, the American astronaut—Armstrong who is first human being landed on the Moon fulfilled the toughest task at that time. But from then on, the number of people who admire to take a risk in the space increases dramatically and the Institutions of many countries are eager to research other subjects, like space shuttle, and exploit other planets to find one could replace of the Earth in the future.

In sum, the chief benefit of the study of history is that not only break down the illusion that people in one period of time are considerably different from people who lived at any other time in history, but also indicate many human nature have remained constant and history contributes to many other facets of individual’s lifetime. We human should not define that the only chief benefit of the stuffy of history is break down the illusion.
