Actually in my opinion, I think models have the right reason to play important roles in our lives. And they should be well learnt and widely propagated for their success. However, we should not rely too much on them and simply imitation is useless.

In the passed thousands of years we are told to copy the paragons’ succeed patterns given by parents, teachers, managers and society. Admittedly, actually we need paragons. On one hand, some fields such as manufacturing actually need a model to stimulate the whole group. For example, in order to quicken the producing speed, it is quite natural for a factory to set up a model worker in assembly line. He can finish the assignment in a shorter time than the others with fewer fallacies. All his colleagues will take him as their aim to catch up with and to emulate, which can largely promote the efficiency of the producing procession.

On the other hand, moral models can inspire and courage people in spirits. In the long march of an army, the model person's endeavor can have a far-reaching impact on the whole legion. Being reminded the model's persistence and perseverance, soldiers can bide with the harsh weather and the long trip they can not endure at ordinary time. That's the power of model. It incites the potential capability of the ordinary people.

At the same time, it is true that we should not rely too much on models. As a matter of fact, we should learn from models but not copy them. In academic fields, creation often has conflict with the old models. Although at that time he had achieved a lot as a president and got much improvement in politics, economy and diploma, he lost the trust of the majority. As we all know, honesty is a quite essential and basic principle of moral system. To disobey it is to disobey the total moral system. So in the example, it is the moral judgment hinging on the way of the leader. By maintaining a high level of ethical and moral standards, he can give a convincing personal model of the popularity and have a strong impact in the group or company or the whole society.

However we should not give a vital role to the morality and ethics in judging leaders. We all consent that saint such as Saint Confucius in China, have the highest level in mortality and ethics. He is not a successful leader although he made many contributions to the progress of pedagogy in ancient China. And as a comparison, Cao Cao, the emperor of Han in the Three Kingdom Period in ancient China, is a typical successful leader with defective personality. He did not trust his followers and could not endure any disagreement. He was also famous for his brutality. But all this defects does not affect the judgment that he is a successful leader who controlled the most powerful army and manage the most prosperous country in the Three Kingdom Period. We can only say that he is quite excellent in management as a leader, which might played a more important role in leadership.

And in another aspect, if we give too much emphasis on the role of morality in leadership, there might turn out a reverse results. All the leaders are ordinary people with desires, so they are quite hard to avoid minor moral fallacies. When the highest demand of morality is posed on them, the only way to meet the demand is to tell lies and mask the truth. The majority of the citizen will be fooled by the illusion that they have a noble leader and the society is quite peaceful. But truth will come to lights sooner or later. At that time, the society will experience turmoil and a regression. So to give a too strict moral criterion for leaders is unwise.

Modernization has been the theme of the modern society for many years and I believe that it will continue to be. In my point of view, tradition and modernization are two aspects of the society and they coexist and interact each other in many fields. With the good methods and morali virtues in tradition, we can speed the procession of modernization. So there is not an either/or choice between them.

First of all, modernization actually has changed tradition a lot, with new technologies replacing many lagging customs and false theories. The procession implus the whole society forward. As the theory of Copernicus showed up in the Catholic society, a panic was produced. But with the progress of astronomy, it was elaborated correct and the whole society gradually accepted it. The traditional incorrect theory of universe was revised and advanced astronomy, as a modern science branch, began to thrive at that time. Without the development in this field, we might still under the illusion that earth is the center of the universe. Then no human being can make a trip to Moon or Mars. So it is quite necessary for us to take place the backward ideas with modern ones .

On the other hand, there are some special necessities such as history research so that we should reserve some traditional issues. If the tribe is totally modernized and civilized, the loss in culture is hard to evaluate. Artists, who create huge amounts of products in music, arts, culture and many other fields, can direcly give the entertainment of joyce and peaceful in daily life. Listening to various genre of  music such as a symptom by Beethoven or a pop song by Michele Jackson can both relax and incite one's spirits, which is quite important for a busy modern person after a day's working. Looking at Van Gogh's "sunflower", the viewer can feel absorbed in the yellow pitch and surrounded by helicopters. All these art products have a great and effective influence on people's psycology. Moreover, some cannon products help to promote judgement in many moral fields. For instance, the novelist ?? wrote the book Uncle Tom's Lobby during the American Civil War and became quite popular at that time. Theme of the book is mainly to eliminate the racial discrimination and give parity to the colored people in America. After reading the book, many people were moved by the spirit and make a new judgment on the issue. Their value and  attitude were changed by the book.

On the other hand, the critic also do a lot to help the general public to promote their understanding of the article works. Since we ordinary people are not so professional in art field and not familiar with so many genres of art, we may have some difficulty in understanding the inner ideas of the works. After reading some relevant critics, we can have a main idea of the background of producing impulse and the artist's character, which lead to a comprehensive and thorough understanding of work's theme and character. Some traditional cultural customs, which have their special form and mysterious meaning for a special tribe, might be quite useful for the historical research in the local religion. If the tribe is totally modernized and civilized, the loss in culture is hard to evaluate. Besides, out of the boundary of memory and research, traditional things might transcend the modern technology in some fields. For example, Chinese traditional medicine might have a better effect for some special kind of diseases such as caner, aids than western theraies. After a series of study and analysis of the herbal medicine, no clear report could tell the working methods of them. Some they should be preserved and inherited to the next generation.

Actually, tradition and modernization are not exclusive as the author claims. On the contrary, the progression of modernization relies on traditional feat the former generations have made. It is quite natural that we can not build second floor before finishing the first floor. And moreover, without a solid ground-work by ancestors, we can not have the accumulation of knowledge to develop the new technologies and theories, which are the core of modernization. Four magic inventions in China including paper, printing, compass and gunpowder cause the latter bloom of technology and quicken the whole procession of modernization.

One more thing which can contribute to the modernization in tradition is the traditional spirits such as diligence, cooperation, obedience and so on. These virtues can make citizen peaceful, hard-working, thrive the whole society and impetus这是个名词 the modernization. It is obvious that people who do not give enough consent to these traditional concepts can not be successful in modern society.

To sum up, it is unreasonable to depart tradition from modernization. Tradition has been largely changed by modernization procession, and modernization is a heritage of tradition. These two interacts on each other and it is wise for us to make a balance between them.

Many people may assert that the history research has value when it has some liasion with our daily life. However, in my point of view, the research may have its meaning not only in the daily life category but in a boarder and deeper category.
Firstly, study in history actually can give us much advice and impetus in practical daily issues. Many great men and women in history set up glorious examples for us and embolden us through difficulty with encouragement and boldness. For instance, through the history of India, we acquire  the famous politician and reformist, Gandhi. He was born in a traditional and religious Indian family and was educated to be normal in the masses. However, the latter education in England raised his unique reform thoughts and gave him the main idea to change the backward and ignorance of the citizen in India. Though he met great difficulties and obstacles in his non-violence movement, he insisted and strived to make a way out. During his life time, he contributed all his energy to ideal. We can compare his experience with the problem we meet now and no doubt, we are much luckier. Moreover, if only we can have the spirit and perseverance he had, most of the troubles in daily life can be dissolved, most of the obstacles in works and studies can be removed and most of the hard time will go by.

Secondly, history tells many possible solutions of temporary social problems which also existed in the past. History is a narrative description about past and its main research object is our predecessor. Though advanced technology has improved our living condition in many aspects, the nature of human beings has not changed. Historical events can reveal the nature of human beings and through the study we see the similarities between the problem we have met now and past. Poverty, violence, and crime are the social problems every society has to face. From the method ancient people using, we could take many lessons and get good ideas with the help of new technologies. By reading the history of peace and war, we know that peace is

Furthermore, history can help to recognize ourselves and our nation thoroughly and profoundly in a comprehensive perspective. Through our history textbooks, we acquires our ancestors, knowing what feats they had made, what influence they had on the future generations. These all together construct a lively patriotic education lesson and form our social identity. Without this kind of cognition, we will get lost in the society, feeling homeless and isolated, just like a person without nationality. If so, how can we continue our daily life?

Finally, we learn history not just for the knowledge in history, but for the values systems rooted in historical experiences and events. After reading abundant resources about war and peace, no one will get fond of war and be favor of it. The basic values system is set up by historical examples which vividly show the leaner what horrible results it will have if they disobey value system. The educational effect will play a vital role in our whole life.

To sum up, it is necessarily for us to learn and study history. Although it will not have an apparent and immediate effect, it does play a indispensable role in our life.

Issue 144:"It's the artist, not the critic, who gives society something of lasting value."

People often assert that it is artist's feat so that we can enjoy the products joyfully. Actually, artists do play a great role in producing the valuable and lasting products. But we can not neglect the impact critc have in shaping the whole value system.

Artists, who create huge amounts of products in music, arts, culture and many other fields, can direcly give the entertainment of joyce and peaceful（觉得不合适） in daily life. Listening to various genre of  music such as a symptom（不懂，是不是专业用语？） by Beethoven or a pop song by Michele Jackson can both relax and incite（这不是相反的么？） one's spirits, which is quite important for a busy modern person after a day's working. Looking at Van Gogh's "sunflower", the viewer can feel absorbed in the yellow pitch and surrounded by helicopters. All these art products have a great and effective influence on people's psycology（这个是指学科，不如改成感情之类的词）. Moreover, some cannon products help to promote judgement in many moral fields. For instance, the novelist ?? wrote the book Uncle Tom's Lobby during the American Civil War and became quite popular at that time. Theme of the book is mainly to eliminate the racial discrimination and give parity to the colored people in America. After reading the book, many people were moved by the spirit and make a new judgment on the issue. Their value and  attitude were changed by the book.

On the other hand, the critic also do a lot to help the general public to promote their understanding of the article works. Since we ordinary people are not so professional in art field and not familiar with so many genres of art, we may have some difficulty in understanding the inner ideas of the works. We can just judge it is either good or bad, without knowing any background of it and liaison to the artist. After reading some relevant critics, we can have a main idea of the background of producing impulse and the artist's character, which lead to a comprehensive and thorough understanding of work's theme and character. For example, some latter works of  Picasso is so abstract that we ordinary people can hardly understand without reading a critic article.
