The speaker asserts that scandals are useful in many fields, for it serves to provide us a new angle for understanding the problems which the speakers or reformers trend not to present in comprehensive ways. On balance, I fundamentally agree to the allegation that scandals, in most cases, can help us know the issue clearly in some special way, promoting the solution to complex problems or even an evolution of a society.

First of all, scandals, as an exposure of some immoral or illegal deed, help us understand the world around us transparent and profoundly, and protect people's right to know the truth. Take the scandals in politics for example. In fact, most of the politician would pretend to be a prefect person in public in order to get people's trust and ballots. Although we know that, as a ordinary person, there is no more accessible way for us to take to acquaint a political candidates well except from the advertisement the candidates himself make. So when choosing a good leader with responsibility for the nation and the publicity from many all seems prefect politicians, scandals always play an important part in that. Consider the process of the American president election, which is an apt illustration for such scandals benefits. The scandal seems to be a big dish for public in the election already which can definitely determined the result at last which is simply because that no one like a cheater to govern their land and their countryman.


What is more important, rather than giving a more comprehensive understanding of the truth, the chief benefit of the scandal serves to promoting the society stepping forward in respects of morality, human rights or even justice. For instance, the recent scandal of the prisoner abuse in American overseas prisons has drawn a heated discussion in the world. While amazing to the big difference concerning the human right from what the government said and what they do, more and more people start to demonstrate their dissatisfactions which forced the American government change their abroad prison policy to be more human caring and more reasonable. In other words, without such scandals, we may still settle for our so-called "fair world" ignoring all the defects.

On the other hand, I concede that sometimes the scandals may distract focus that the public concentrating on and confuse the core of the problem. Even sometimes the scandals may destroy a image of a hero who have got much more grand achievements than a small scandal all life long. Therefore, we need to reach an appropriate balance when face to the scandals.

In the final analysis, scandals plays an important role in our society life helping make the society and public issues in all areas more clearly for every normal person and make the world better in certain ways.
