The speaker decides whether children are helping determine the destiny of society only by the way they are socialized, and also asserts that we have not yet learned how to raise children today. Generally, I do agree the way children are socialized affect the development of society. However, it is not the only decisive factor that counts. Besides socialization, individualization is also of crucial importance.
Children today will be the main power to construct the society, for future leaders and social backbones are selected from children today. In this sense, to educate children scientifically and properly directly affect their manners and capability when dealing with social issues. In the real world, all nations are treating children as a special group when spare recognizable efforts, in education, hygiene facility, social insurance, etc. It turns out that the efforts will pay off, if you give a glimpse of those high-profile awards like Nobel Prize which means the promising nominees are doing great in making our life better, thus to better our society.
What's more, socialization of the children, which refers to smooth communication and understanding among peers, cannot be neglected in raising the children. This ensures the cooperation but disputes between them. It is true that more and more achievements are brought about by group of people rather than individuals. The effectiveness will be doubled or tripled when collaborating with other intellectuals.
However, socialization is the only factor, as far as I am concerned, is not the only decisive one when it comes to the perfection ofsociety. Besides, individualization is also the one. Simply put, if the person is well individualized, their later performance generally will not be disappointed.
Michael Jackson, the king of pop, serves as an example. Undoubtedly, he isn't doing well in socialization, in that he suffered from scandals, like molesting a 13-year-old boy, plastic surgery, etc. He was not successful in moving people's eyes away from these things. However, he is a person who achieved a lot in music and dance, especially famous for his pop and moonwalk. What's more important, he is doing charity all over the world to prevent children from sufferings. All this was own to that he was well individualized since childhood. From his parents, he acquired how to love and tolerate, as well as beliefs to save people from suffer. From this case, we can see individualized is also a decisive factor when determining the destiny of society.
In my opinion, the best way is to well individualize the children under successful socialization. The combination of two is decisive and helpful to better the society.
In the final analysis, I object the arguer's opinion that we haven't learned how to raise children. As I mentioned in the 2ed paragraph, all nations' efforts are concentrated on children. And the fact turns out that, actually, the current social condition is very healthy and harmonious due to the hard working of our children, and children’s children--- the life becomes easier; there are fewer wars, persecutions, religious disputes and discords, much more peaceful and convenient life. In this sense, people have learned how to raise children and doing quite well.
In sum, how children are socialized today does affect the society, however, the combination of socialization and individualization is playing a crucial role in determining the destiny of society. And so far, we are doing great in raising children. |
