Hardly could we deny that we are listening to other people's advice frequently, ranging from
important things such as professor's suggestion about career choice to miscellaneous things like
the advice about lunch. Some people hold the view that it is more valuable to listen to elder's
advice while other people believe that suggestions from people with the same age as you is more
advisable. With all aspects carefully considered, I believe that we should deal with this case by
case.

Elder people are usually more abundant in experience in various area, which is very precious
while we are dealing with a long existing problem. The task we encounter today may have already
been solved perfectly by them a long time ago. Taking their advice may save us the effort on
spending extra time to find the solution. For instance, when I try to raise my own plant first
time, my father often offers me some useful suggestion about the irrigation and the feritlizer
which are really unknown to me. Hardly could I imagine what the plant would be without his help.

However, sometimes elder people can not keep abreast of the current affairs as well as young
people, the idea they posses may not still that useful and even out of date. Under this
condition, we should refer to people who are aware of the situation we face, usually, they are
about the same age as us. For example, I'm applying for admission for a graduate study, surely I
would consider the advice of my classmate who has just done it successfully more than the
professor who has been graduated for 20 years.

In conclusion, I believe both the advice of elder people and youngers' are precious. We should
put different weights on them in different situations in order to make the perfect decision.
