The following appeared in a magazine article about planning for retirement.
'Because of its spectacular natural beauty and consistent climate, Clearview should be a top choice for anyone seeking a place to retire. As a bonus, housing costs in Clearview have fallen significantly during the past year, and real estate taxes remain lower than those in neighboring towns. Nevertheless, Clearview's mayor promises many new programs to improve schools, streets, and public services. Retirees in Clearview can also expect excellent health care as they grow older, since the number of physicians in the area is far greater than the national average.'

In this argument, the arguer concludes that people should choose Clearview to a place when they retire because of its spectacular natural beauty and consistent climate. Reasonable as it seems, however, this argument suffers from several critical falacies.


In the first place, there are no guarantee that housing costs in Clearview are necessarily lower than in other cities. The arguer did not mention anything about housing costs in other cities .It is quite possible that housing costs in Clearview is still higher than in those in other cities although housing costs in Clearview have fallen significantly during the past year.If it is so, it is not necessary for the retiring people to choose Clearview to live when they retire. To convince us, the arguer need to provide more  details corncenning  comparision of housing costs between Clearview and other cities all over the country.

In the second place, the arguer fails to rule out the possibility  that residents in Clearview have been suffering  or will continue to suffer problems with schools, streets, and public services. the arguer does not mention anything about living conditions owned by residents in Clearview.It is also possible that living conditions in Clearview are actually worse than other cities. Even if Clearview`s mayor promises to improve schools, streets, and public services, but still lacking datas to demonstrate the environment is surely better than other cities.

Last but not the least, the arguer falsely depends on gratuitous assumption that retirees in Clearview can receive excellent health care as they grow older because the number of physicians in the area is far greater than the national average. However, the evidence supported by the arguer is insufficent to guaratee the numbers of residents in Clearview severved by a physician are lower than those in other cities. Lacking of those details, it is arbitrary for the arguer to claim that retirees in Clearview can expect excellent health care as they grow older.

In conclusion, the argument lacks credibility because the evidence cited in the analysis does not lend strong sustain what arguer insist. To better evaluate the argument, the arguer need more information concerning better living condition of Clearview than other cities.

The author asserts that Clearview would be a top choice for anyone seeking a place to retire.  He or she provides some evidences to support the conclusion. However, as it stands it is dubious.
      In the first place, there is no direct relation between the spectacular natural beauty, consistent climate and the best place to retire. It is possible that the senior person prefers other factors rather than the sight and climate, for example, the life quality, the traffic system, and so forth. Without ruling out these and other possibilities, this argument is untenable.
      Secondly, the author's assertion that housing costs in Clearview have fallen significantly during the past year and real estate taxes remain lower than those in neighboring towns cannot be worthy believing. Maybe the housing cost in that city is still high after the fall last year. Moreover, the real estate taxes may be higher that the nation average and other places that attract people to retire there. Unless the author rules out these and other possibilities, I cannot be convinced by the argument.
      Thirdly, the large number of physicians in the area does not mean retirees in the Clearview can have excellent health care. There is possibility that the physicians in that city are only for child but not for senior person. Further, the quantity of physician dose not stands for the medicine quality. Absent evidence to support this assumption, the conclusion is doubtful.
       Last but no the least, the city's major promises many new programs to improve school, streets, and public service. There is no evidence that the major will really jinxing these programs. And the school is not of great use to the senior people.
       To sum up, this conclusion is unconvincing as it stands. To bolster it the author should provide the evidence to prove that the sights is the primary consider of a person to select a place to retire and the housing costs and the and real estate taxes in Clearview is really lower than the national average and other place which also want people to retire there. To better assess the argument, I need more information that the major will make his or her promise true and how is the medicine condition in the city.
