Therefore, a medication for stimulating the left prefrontal lobe of the brain would be an effective treatment for clinical depression.

In the argument, the arguer concludes that a medication for stimulating the left prefrontal lobe of the brain would be helpful for the treatment of clinical depression. To support the argument, the argue  cites a research result that people who consider themselves generally happy have more activity in the left prefrontal lobe of their brains than do other people. Reasonable as it seems, however, the argument suffers from sevearal fallacies.

In the first place, the arguer fails to establish the causal relationship between generally happy and activity in the left prefrontal lobe of  brains. The arger doesnot offer directely evidence that generally happy is relate to the activity in the left prefrontal lobe of  brains.It is quite possible that other factors that contribute to generally happy and activity in the left prefrontal lobe of  brains, and these two phenomina are just external exppression of those factors. Without ruling out the possibility, the arguer can not draw a far more conclusion.

In the second place, without examining the causes of depression, any treatment at this stage would be premature.It is true that generally happy can exppress an activity in the left prefrontal lobe of  brains, but it is not sure that stimulating the left prefrontal lobe of  brains would be an effective treatment for clinical depression. Furthermore, granted that activity in the left prefrontal lobe of  brains have a causal relationship with the generally happy, however, the cause of clinical depression must not be unhappy. Therefore, the arguer needs to provide more evidence that the cause  cite clinical depression before do a  treament.

In conclusion, the argument lacks credibility that the proof quoted in the construe can lend less support to what the arguer insist. To convince us, the arguer needs to provide more evidence concerning the causal relationship between generally happy and activity in the left prefrontal lobe of  brains and examining the causes of depression.
