The following appeared in a letter sent by a committee of homeowners from the Deerhaven Acres to all homeowners in Deerhaven Acres.

"Seven years ago, homeowners in nearby Brookville community adopted a set of restrictions on how the community's yards should be landscaped and what colors the exteriors of homes should be painted. Since then, average property values have tripled in Brookville. In order to raise property values in Deerhaven Acres, we should adopt our own set of restrictions on landscaping and housepainting."

In this argument, the arguer claims that they should adopt a set of restrictions on landscaping and housepainting to raise property values in Deerhaven Acres. To support this argument, the arguer points out that the average property values have tripled in Brookville, since seven years ago, homeowners in Brookville community adopted a set of restrictions on how the community's yards should be landscaped and what colors the exteriors of homes should be painted. However, there are many logical flaws in this argument.

In the first place, this argument is based on an unproved assumption that the reason why the average property values of Brookville community tripled is the restrictions on landscaping and housepaining adopted by the homeowners in Brookville community seven years ago. The arguer just gives us this factor which is not necessary to affect the property values. Except this, the arguer gives us nothing which could help us to estimate this argument. It is entirely possible that the restriction on landscaping and housepaining is just one of the least important elements which could affect the property values. If this is the case, even though the Deerhaven adopts a restriction on landscaping and housepaining, it is not necessary that its property values will increase. To better support this argument, the arguer should provide us with more evidence to suggest that the landscaping and the housepaining is the most important factor which could affect the property values.

In the second place, this argument is based on another unproved assumption that the Deerhaven Acres community has the same background as the Brookville community, even if the increase of Brookville community's average property values is related to the restriction on landscaping and housepainting. As we know, the values of property is related to many factors, such as the local economic conditions, the climate, the location of the property, the natural and social conditions and so on. Even if the landscaping and housepaining could affect the property values, the arguer fails to provide us any evidence to suggest that the the Brookville community and the Deerhaven Arces has the same background. Without considering this important factor, this measure to increase the property values is not necessarily effective, though the two communities are close.

Finally, the measures to raise the property values seven years ago is not necessarily effective today, even if the restrictions on landscaping and housepaining effect the property values and the Deerhaven Arces community has the same background as the Brookville community. With the developing of economy and society, it is possible that the measure which is may effective to raise the property values seven years ago is not necessarily valid today. During the seven years, many things might happen, and the people's consuming conception would dramatically change. Without ruling out this factor, this argument is lack of stringency to persuade us that the restrictions on landscaping and housepaining will be effective.

In sum, the arguer fails to convince us that the property values of Brookville will increase if they adopt a set of restrictions on landscaping and housepaining. To better estimate this argument, the arguer should provide us with more evidence to illustrate that the increase of Brookvillethe's property values is because of the restrictions on landscaping and housepaining. In addition, to enforce this argument, the arguer should supply enough evidences to prove that the background of Deerhaven Acres today is the same as the Brookville community's seven years ago.
