關於 HKPFS Nomination v.s. 普通PhD 的Offer

大家好, 我想問如果獲大學nominates HKPFS, 但在三月尾才知道被 turned down.  
這情況下是否一定會有普通PhD 的Offer (因普通PhD 的Offer通常在一月/二月已發, 大學會不會已沒有普通PhD 的Vacancy )?

其實何時才會知道当被推荐到UGC?

And as far as I know, HKPFS and 普通PhD 的Offer 是不同的 Funding 方法 and admit students through two separate streams.
Assuming there are 3 places for normal applicants and 1 student admitted through HKPFS,
total no. of places = 3+1 = 4.

Now the situation is:
大學現在又不一定給HKPFS applicant 一個普通的PhD offer (as this will make total no. of place = 0+ 3 = 3 if the HKPFS application is turned down later)

In this case, 我是害怕普通PhD 的Vacancy 已在 一月/二月 full, 到三月尾才知道turned down, 大學已沒有Vacancy...會不會這樣? :mad:

Thank you for your reply.  How about the case I mentioned I above?
If the HKPFS application is turned down later in Mar, then the no. of places in the university will be reduced and only have 3 places (0 HKPFS + 3 Normal) in total.

Thinking in this perspective, I wonder if there is a "risk" that the university may not reserve the place for nominated HKFPS candidate and "gamble" to have 4 places in total if the HKPFS place is accepted?

In this case, will the nominated HKPFS candidate have no place in the end?? 很害怕....:dizzy:  謝謝!

Really, what did your professor said?

I don't know when the offer would be made.  
Coz it's just the nomination by dept [also need to pass the university "nomination" first (not the final nomination by UGC), is it true?]

And would the nominated applicant know by any means whether the university nomination be passed to UGC or not?

I really hope what I said concerning the "risk" would not happen.   Thanks.

coz I only got an "oral" notice that the application is nominated by the dept now (but has not given me any offer yet)  Thank you.

Actually I only know that I was nominated by the dept and don't know whether I will be nominated by the university.
As far as I know, the procedure is:  Nominated by professor -> Nominated by dept -> Nominated by university -> Send to UGC for their selection

Yes, I know the final result will be available at least by late March.  
But would the result be available earlier (say through earlier oral notice from the university)?  
And when/how I would know whether the nomination is accepted the university and will be sent to UGC for their selection?  Thanks.
