听力很菜,每天都在坚持做Scientific American 60 Second Science听抄,不过不能完全听懂,把每天的听抄贴出来,希望高人指教,不胜感激!
Episode 161: April 24, 2007
This is Scientific Americans sixty secondsscience. I’m Steve Mirsky. Got a minute?
Broadway has a newproduction of heir the wind(没听出来) based on 1925 scope’smonkey trial. And the American museum of natural history has a new whole ofhuman argens(不知道是哪个词). A short article(没听到) on Monday’s New York Times editorial page about the play and exhibit finished by reminding us that chimp DNA is almost 99% identical to human DNA. The advancer says, perhaps jokingly, that creationists can take heart in different 1% as a 1% chance that evolution did not happen. Well, joke that people may take this seriously. After all, it is on the editorial page of New York Times. So let’s trace this out, in fact the approximate 1% difference in the DNA sequences of human’s and chimp’s is leaving documentation of the random genetic mutation that has been selected in the 60 million years, since we and chimps broke away from the common ancestor. That 1% difference in DNA does represent small chance that evolution did not happen. It is the regulation of evolution that did happen. We all are monkey’s uncle.

Episode 160: April 23, 2007
This is Scientific Americans sixty secondsscience. I’m Steve Mirsky. Got a minute?
For a satisfying career and happy life, trydoing something that helps other people. That’s the findings of something called the general social survey performed by University of Chicago's National Opinion Research Centre. The survey asked people how satisfied theywere with their jobs, and how happy they were in general and accordingly listed the results. On average, 47% of people were very satisfied with their jobs. 33%said they were very happy. On the job front, clergy topped the lists. 87% of clergy surveyed said they were very satisfied with the calling. And 67% said they were happy. 80% of firefighters really like their work. And 57% said they were very happy. The kind get no satisfaction list was topped by roofers. Only a quarterof them said the job was satisfying. Only 14% of roofers said they were happy. The list may be less happy than they are. Waiters, bartenders, cashiers, various kinds of retail, sales people also did not like their work too much. For more information, just google general social survey.

回复 #1 woodman 的帖子

Broadway has a new production of heir the wind(没听出来) based on the 1925 scope’s monkey trial. And the American museum of natural history has a new whole of human argens(不知道是哪个词). A short item on Monday’s New York Times editorial page about the play and exhibit finished by reminding us that chimp DNA is almost 99% identical to human DNA. The item then says, perhaps jokingly, that creationists can take hearteningly different 1% as a 1% chance that evolution did not happen. Well, joke or not people may take this seriously. After all, it is on the editorial page of the New York Times. So let’s straighten this out, in fact the approximately 1% difference in the DNA sequences of human’s and chimp’s is living documentation of the random genetic mutations that has been selected in the 60 million years or so, since we and chimps broke away from the common ancestor. That 1% difference in DNA does represent small chance that evolution did not happen. It is the record of evolution that did happen. We are all the monkeys’ uncle.

听成这样很不错了。继续加油。

刚刚听抄了一段,是April 24的,楼主看看:) 不过Broadway production 的名字我也听不出来:confused:

Episode 162: April 25, 2007

They call it seriously vomit fruit.Tahitian Noni is a Polynesian shrub that smells so bad will bla. Anyway, most species of fruit fly stay their way on the plant, which gets it least smell from the presence of hexone and octanol gases. The fly’s aversion is well founded, even a night on the fated fruit, they die. But one species of fruit fly,Drosophia sechellia loves the puky plant, it even leave eggs there. The studywas just published in the Public Library of Science Biology. Researchers looked the genetic difference between the sechellia and close relatives (shandalali,没听出来,写的谐音). They found very different pattern of expression of two genes were responsible for all faction that may be sechellia fruit flies no longer notice the bad smell. More researches rely on rival of the rest of the story. But seems a good bet that once sechallia stop minding the funk, they quickly develop resistance tothe (asidic,没听出来,写的谐音) environment kills other species (jusofalar,没听出来,写的谐音). And mutations that many new flies tolerate the smelly plant may have been the first steps to a new species.

Anyway, most species of fruit fly (flies)staytheir wayon (stay away from)the plant, which gets it least(its nasty) smell from the presence ofhexone(听得是 hexanoic,,但不确定) and octanol(听得是 octanoic,,不确定) gases. The fly’s aversion is well founded, even anight on the fated fruit(if they even alight on the fat of the fruit), they die. But one species of fruitfly,Drosophia sechellia loves the puky plant, it even leave(leaves 连读) eggs there. The study was(In the study) just published in the Public Library of Science Biology.(,) Researchers looked the genetic difference(differences) between the sechellia andclose relatives (shandalali,没听出来,写的谐音).They found (a )very different pattern of expression of two genes were(delete were)responsible for all faction (olfaction) that may be sechellia fruit flies no longernotice the bad smell. More researches rely on(自己听出来的是will along,但是没有把握) rival of the rest of thestory.
