Turning over the pages of history, people do not have to go very far to reach inscriptions in rocks, calligraphy and painting on strolls and bamboos, lettering on papers, and videos in compact discs are the very methods used to record documentations. Further more the latest methods of recording, video camera, has such abundant advantages that some people are on the brink of abandoning written records as an important method of documentations. However, in my point of view, I can not agree the groundless notion less, because no matter the method of written records or taking videos by camera to create documentaries are far from a perfect way of making records.

Admittedly, the inventing of cameras and video cameras make a thorough evolution of recording and will certainly benefits our offspring. With the development of cameras, from the box cameras to view cameras, from rangefinder cameras to pin and short cameras, and from video cameras to digital (video) cameras, the family of documentation is complemented with new blood, pictures, live videos, and exquisite voices. By using a camera, we may record any scene and any issues we are willing to take a record, no matter where we are and no matter when it is. Mean while videos are likely to help explain some abysmal theories by pictures and videos, take a program introducing the origin of our enormous Cosmos as an instance, the pictures capturing by telescopes implying the explosion may be the very beginning of Cosmos. We may accept the theory by some videos showing sights of the combination of both animations and real photos, although the explosion theory is too ambiguous to understand. Thus, we have already realize the meaningful use of video cameras.

On the country, numerous concrete reasons have verified the unreplaceable usage of written documentation. Since video records need cameras to create and television to display, this kind of recording documentation is inevitably limited. Otherwise, written documentation is convenient enough that people just need pens and papers to finish any records. Further more, written files are more accessible to be duplicated, transferred and modified, since they are feasible to be transferred through internet, printed by printers, and modified by computers.

Last but not least, on one hand, documentations are more vivid, but not feasible at times. On the other hand, written documentations are likely more practiced, but they are far from simple enough to be understood by most people in a short time. According to a recent survey conducted by sociality department of Peking University, seventy six point five percent undergraduates advocate the documentations make by video cameras and written documentation are both needed for making records. In conclusion, these two forces may undermine each other at times, if handled properly, they can also complement with each other, to make a vivid, meaningful, and perfect documentation.

To summarize, it is very likely that people may not reach the same conclusion on this controversial issue due to there different experiences and conflicting values. Nevertheless, public awareness of the carious dimensions of the methods, for  taking documentations, will certainly contribute to the thorough understanding that the best method for vivid, meaningful and easily taking means of creating documentation is to combine those two means together.
