【题目】"It is the artist, not the critic, who gives society something of lasting value."

4.总结。

The speaker asserts it is the artist, not the critic, who gives society something of lasting value. I agree insofar as the artist plays a great role in the creation of the
masterpiece. However, we should also notice the role that the critic plays in the appreciating, introducing arts to the public and directing artist. In fact, both
artists and critics are indispensable in the advent of those works of eternal values.

Admittedly, the advent of artistic masterpieces owns much to the  talents, inspirations and passion of the artists. It is those people who devoted their
lives to the cause of art that bring numerous great works into the mundane world. The history has witnessed hundreds of examples in this view. Van Gogh, the
pioneer of the impressionism, created a lot of epoch-making works such as the Sunflower, Starry Night and so on, which stood the observation  of generations. Mona Lisa, the most famous painting of Dan vinci, won millions of reputations throughout the world. Shakespeare's Macbeth, for instance, teach us that
inordinate ambition is pernicious. All these works have stood through the long time trial for their value and still convey us with beauty, humanity and endurance.
In this view, artists should be crowned with the honor to bring the lasting value to us in this mundane world.

However, when admitting the contribution made by the artists to the works of lasting value, we can't turn a blind eye to the critics who are also crucial to the
emergence of the masterpieces .On the one hand, masterpieces created by the artists are usually out of the  recognition of ordinary people so that  they're not
easily comprehended by the multitude. It's the critics who bring the values in the works to the surface so that the average people have the chance to appreciate
them. Let's come back to the example of Van Gogh, at his time, people couldn't comprehend the themes and thoughts of Van Gogh expressed in the paintings
and his works were despised by the multitude. As time went by, critics came to discover the potential values of his paintings and finally impressionism, one of
the major parts in the artistic realm, came into existence. Therefore, critics serve as explorer and introducer of eternal values existing in arts.

On the other hand, critics are equipped with the ability to foreseen the valuable trends in the development of art and can provide constructive criticism and
feedback for the artists. These suggestions, if taken to heart, might result in better works which have insights of the life. In this view, critics also serve as advisors or indicators in the realm of arts.

In sum, artists and critics supplement each other so that none of which could be ignored. It is not only the artist, but also the critic , who give society of lasting value.

总得来说全文条理很清楚,表达也很丰富,就是最后有点收尾有点苍白。(我本人也不会写结尾,唉……)这篇真是赞呀,比上次作业强太多太多了^_^很高兴看到你有这么大的进步~继续加油~
