Sure, studying history has its value and advantage that it serve as a guidance to our daily lives, however, the speaker gratuitous attenuate the value of history study as merely "only has value" when it is relevant to our daily lives, which is hardly coincide with my opinion. I would insist that history have value in several aspects besides the reference for our daily lives.

For one thing, history does serve as a guidance or mirror in guiding and deliberating the best way to chosen for our daily lives. For instance, though technology developed so rapidly all these years, and has revolutionarily changed our life, the idea and theories of Aristotle, Plato, or Confucius, a famous educator in China, are still worth reading. Then question comes out, why so many people all over the world still so fascinated with these old theories? It is only because they wanted to discovery something useful for using today, they are looking for those golden rules that will hardly changed no matter how significance technology or revolution takes place. This illustrates the point that history does help us in dealing with our every day problems.

For another thing, however, the value of history is definitely more than that. If we looking into the case of policy making, we would find the significant role that history plays in the process of it. A common but illustrative instance is environment pollution, several decades ago, for meeting the economical and political needs, most nations developed relatively fast at the cost of environmental pollution, however, what's the result turns out is that, eventually, people have to confronted with much more problems, such as nuclear melt, green house effect, ozone holes, all of which must spent much more time and resources to recover and rebuild. Thus learning from these mistakes and memorizing their harmful effects in the history, those in charge with the national agencies will try their best to avoid this kind of scenario happen again when they solve these immediate problems. For example, thanks to these experiences of the history, lots of environmental free products were created and comes into being in our everyday lives.

What's more, history also has its value in terms of the culture.  As times goes by, the actual facts and ideas of history may be neglected or worn out, however, the influence that they exerted will never be effaced in that its reflects the soul of a whole nation. By learning the story of our ancestors, we can understand how our forefathers live their lives, and how much contribution they did to our society as well as the whole world. Being proud of their offspring and trying to imitate their great effort, we may work harder in order to make a more brilliant future.

In summary, history does exerted an indispensable function in deciding our daily lives, but their actual value may reach the extent of  politics, academic, also perhaps more importantly, the destiny of our whole world.

组长，不好意思，拍得狠了一些，个人意见，文章的思路是有的，但写的时候表达的不确切，读起来有些不通顺的感觉，尤其是第3和第4自然段，还有，这篇文章里还有一些语法上的小错误，这在组长以前的文章里可是很少见的（难道是被我传染了，呵呵）！
