With the soaring development of science and technology, education, long recognized as the primitive source and impetus for societal advancement, has won more and more attraction. Among all the issues around education, the debate on which kind of education is really effective is one being most discussed(这句话感觉有问题). While some people insist that a true effective education can only be achieved by designing the courses specially adapting to each student's need and interest, I whereas prefer the opinion that the principle for designing courses should vary according to the stage of education.
To begin with, it is unpractical and even harmful to design courses specifically to meet various students' needs and interests in elementary and secondary school. Due to the immaturity of their thoughts, not all pupils could identify where their real interests lie. Out of the inborn curiosity and limited knowledge of the world(of the world 删掉?), it is more probable for them to change their so-called interests quite swiftly and easily. They may firstly show an admiration to beautiful paintings, but then quickly be attracted to a piano. It is common to hear pupils proudly claiming they(their) dreams of(are) becoming scientists in the future, but how many of them really do(really insist their interests?)? In such a stage when neither educator nor the students themselves could not accurately decide their true interests(what are the pupil’s’ true interests), how could we expect the specially-designed curriculum for every student will be effective? Maybe the courses specially-designed to meet their preference that was momentarily(that was momentarily showed删掉,在preference 前面加一个 temporary?) showed will actually limit(hinder) their potential developments in other fields and thus mask their true interests.
Further more, many of the basic courses and moral courses, which are of vital importance both in fulfilling the educational goal and in leading the students to further study, should be learned by all students in this stage, with no respect to their interest or inclination.(把定语从句放到后面第二句说,TS简洁一点比较好) As is known to all, such basic subjects as mathematics, physics and chemistry are the basis for most students in their further study. For example, to learn computer, basic knowledge on both mathematics and physics are needed, the former essential in software developing and the latter indispensable in researching hardware. Similarly, a broad range of fields, from geography, biology to ecology are built on the basis of chemistry. If purely listening to the students’ opinion in deciding the curriculum, these courses may be ruled out by many students because they appear bald and unappealing. Clearly, this will by no means benefit their further development. Similarly, the moral courses, which aim to teach the students correct ethical and moral standards thus to help them form healthy personality, are also should be learned by all.(最后的 ethical 的例子最好还是扯上学生会不感兴趣或者忽视了)
However, when it comes to higher education, such as college and university education, then a specifically-arranged course list for each student is helpful and beneficial to achieve a better effect of education. Generally speaking, students in this stage almost have conceived maturely about their real interests and future plans, and after years of indoctrination, they have already formed their own personality. Then in this stage, providing facilitates for their pursuing of personal interests is much more important. Interest is the best teacher and in one’s interested fields it is more probable for fruits to yield. Our history is replete of such examples. Without interest in astronomy, Copernicus, who was initially studying medicine, could not prompt his heliocentric cosmology.(哥白尼原来是学医学的啊:),这个例子好) Without loving in drama, Shakespeare, an unnoticeable worker, could not become the most famous dramatist.
Therefore, in a word, to effectively achieve the true goal of education, designing different courses in respect of different education stages, in which students' maturity in both personality and knowledge largely vary, is undoubtedly a better choice than laying stubborn principles on all schools.
结构很好,最好在第二段也强调一下是针对中学生和小学生,这样和第一段联系的更紧密一下。
语言很好,ADMIRE 中,每次都不敢改你的作文,对自己的自信是个打击:) |
