+ C/ i" N$ E: ]% n' }等了一个学期,终于等到了自己觉得比较对胃口的课。美国的规划对于理论和数据要求很严格,反倒对于技术方面强调的不多,因为我是urban design concentration的,所以个人对和技术以及实例相关的东西更感兴趣一些。下面介绍一门PennDesign规划系的urban design concentration学生必修的一门课,CPLN 708-Urban Design Methods

COURSE DESCRIPTION: " E* v. B+ _+ M! v) x
This course is designed as an introductory survey of urban design# {$ W7 I8 |' S$ @: I
methods associated with both practice and research. The course begins with a series of discussions7 P! ~' }/ ~4 S+ I
on the field of urban design, attempts at definition, history of the field, basic epistemology, traditional
! [- y" u' `1 U- c7 W5 W9 qand emerging roles, and design communication.7 `; R" [; D6 Y
, l& z; Y6 P1 ?* d5 V1 c" eThe first half of the course concerns issues and methods in urban design practice, situated either in9 Y( U" W3 c( j- S& J: H
the private or public sector – including both direct and indirect design. Topics to be covered in this

including both morphology and typology. Both qualitative and quantitative methods will be examined

others who plan on working in positions dealing with project development, design, or long term
