The Department of Chemistry Graduate Admissions Committee at The
University of Vermont has reviewed your application, and we are pleased
to recommend you for admission to the Graduate College. This will be
official when you receive a letter from the Graduate College, which
should occur within the next three weeks. Our admission offer includes
a full tuition scholarship and a stipend of at least $20,500.
Additionally, the Graduate College will cover 75% of the cost of your
student health insurance.
Recent chemistry PhDs from our department have proceeded to postdoctoral
appointments at schools such as Yale, Penn, Stanford and Harvard, or are
employed by pharmaceutical companies such as Smith-Kline-Beecham,
Boehringer-Ingelheim, Albany Molecular Research, and Merck. Several
Vermont graduates have also joined academic faculties in colleges and
universities. You will find we have a very active and successful
chemistry program.
Burlington is a great place to live. The cost of living is not as high
as the big cities in the Northeast, and the outdoor recreation
opportunities are outstanding.
This email will be followed by formal letters from our department and
from the Graduate College, which should arrive in 2-3 weeks. Please let
me know if this letter does not arrive on schedule. If there's anything
I can do to help you make your decision, please don't hesitate to ask.
